  1. -2F for my daily low. Again, nothing earth shattering or unusual. Just the length of this cold spell. Impressive to me.
  2. I will still watch for a little clipper or two over the next week or so. Nothing big but maybe a net gain. As Scott said, the moderation in temps could help us.
  3. Regarding the loss of that fishing boat off of Gloucester…. It was reported today that one of the people on board was a young observer for the NOAA fisheries department. Our niece was doing that job last year (she only did it for a few months). Very dangerous stuff.
  4. Where do you get the snow depth data? ORH seems to just have a series of M’s BOS doesn’t seem to show it
  5. Dial-up. If anyone has one of those AOL CDs with some minutes, send it my way
  6. A number of years ago (similar cold morning) I heard a bang from outside and our power went out. I went out with the dog to see what happened. There was a newly cooked squirrel at the bottom of a pole. The crew restored power in an hour or so (just had to flip a big breaker switch thing). The squirrel stayed there for a couple of days before something grabbed a frozen meal
  7. I’m guessing a car hit a pole or something. Our son’s place is affected by the same outage. Expected restoration time is 11AM
  8. Agreed. The atmosphere needs some time to reorganize I guess.
  9. It’s a ridiculous rag at this point. Somehow they still put one out 6 days per week. We used to get it here until 10 years ago or something. My mother in law still gets it even though her eyesight doesn’t work well enough. It’s only like 4 pages long.
  10. I love this column from the Gardner News. I know the writer but who knows how accurate any of the temps mentioned were https://www.thegardnernews.com/story/news/2004/01/16/the-chill-winter-in-gardner/11270366007/
  11. All kinds of anecdotal stories of crazy low temps here from that February . Nothing verified of course and wonky thermometers.
  12. Looks like -24F on Feb 16, 1943 https://marine.weather.gov/product.php?site=MHX&issuedby=ORH&product=CLS&format=CI&version=11&glossary=0
  13. Understandable... I got 20ish inches in December in several smaller events... I love good storms but will take pack refreshers
  14. I wouldn't mind December redux... clippahs, litle events... if we aren't getting any bigguns
  15. Very meh as far as low temps today compared with other days/locations. A bit breezy.
  16. I’ve had some melting of the snow on my roof. Icicles starting and some ice forming on my front steps where it has dripped a bit. I also watched yesterday morning, once the sun rose, as the dusting of snow on my daughter’s car disappeared in about an hour (sublimation). it’s happening, just slowly
  17. OMG. I forgot about the Disconnector. that could never be published/printed today.
  18. The parking lot at my school was such a mess today. People couldn’t see the parking space lines and parked like idiots. They sent out a huge email showing all the cars that had to move so buses could get through. I can park there blindfolded since I’ve been there so long but it was funny.
