Neighbors left here 30 minutes ago in Central NH to head to Boston. I warned them twice yesterday roads could be a disaster.

17F Light freezing Rain

Today we had to travel north to Littleton. There is more snow down here than in Lincoln and on the other side of Franconia Notch. Mostly sunny on the downslope side of the Whites and gray and with a few flakes just north. There is so much more sun down here. Although I love snow if it isn't going to do that then I'm all for sun and not what seems like endless clouds up north.

Been watching from NNE. Congrats Balt/DC and southeast. Bob Turk is a friend of mine so lots of messaging the last 24 hours trying to get this storm right. Forecast was very good despite a sharp northern cutoff. Yesterday we talked about warm ground temperatures before a storm. I always thought that was a fallacy if you have good snow rates. This storm proved that. More snow on the ground down there than most of New England. With temperatures getting down to the teens tonight and only near freezing tomorrow there should be nice icicle growth weather.

Winter temperatures have returned. Still a total glaciated pack but not more than 4 or 5". Since I have lots of family in the Baltimore/DC area I have been messaging all day with my friend Bob Turk who is the TV met down there. What a tough forecast. Very sharp north cutoff through the metro. No excitement here.

Quick question. Is there any snow on the ground in Metro Boston? From the NH network I can see that the ground is covered around the Mass/NH line but the Mass Cam network is down. I'm just curious if metro west/Rt 128 on the north side is totally bare? Thanks

That is the truck that I ordered last July. It's the Ford Maverick Hybrid. 40 miles per gallon but just front wheel drive. I got the upgraded Lariat model and it was only $28K. I also reserved a Ford F150 Lightning. It comes out in 2022. I will drive the Maverick and then decide to trade in for the full electric Lightning. My worry is that there are so many electric cars coming out that fast charging stations will not keep up and there will be waits to charge. Besides the truck on order we have aToyota RAV4 Prime. That is a plug in hybrid. So you can drive it on the gas/electric engine like any other hybrid but you can plug it in too and when you do you get 42 miles of pure electric driving. So for us we drive on the electric 90% of the time and then the truck changes to the gas/hybrid and we get about 32 mpg.

Yeah, they are. Much more. Since the house was built in 1795 it's considered historical and always had wood shakes. So we went all out to try to match the beauty of those which I have had to replace twice sinc 1989. These have a 50 year warranty so will way outlive me

We put a new roof on the house this fall. It's a composite plastic shake made by a company called DaVinci. Similarly slippery as metal I guess. Here is a picture of the roof. This south side just let go. My weather cam is next to the door in the center. I just made this video from it of the avalanche. 6 seconds into the video. Turn your volume down first. If 3" of snow does this I can't wait until we get our first 1 footer. The cats are still in hiding. The pole is my Davis anamometer.
