  1. Wife picked this one. We had friends with timeshare there. So, it is $100 for the whole 3-day weekend. I wanted to take my son snow-tubing for the first time. I will definitely go further north and a higher elevation. Maybe before the winter is out. Any suggestions?
  2. Never thought I'd be worried about rain at a mountain ski resort (Massanutten) in the dead of winter. But, it's that great mid-Atlantic winter! Will definitely go further north next time. Guess we'll be inside the entire weekend.
  3. I might end up with an inch after my second shovel. I still see fat flakes in the street lights. Temps are forecast to be above freezing tomorrow. So, at least that will help the sidewalks and steps.
  4. Well, this storm easily passed my baseline of 5" for respectable snow! I just finished my second round of shoveling. Even took my son out for a Jebwalk this afternoon!
  5. Snurring. IT's cold. Pulled a back muscle this morning at the gym. Real smart just before having to shovel snow.
  6. 5 inches is my new baseline. I need it to snow at least 5-inches to be satisfied. Plenty to get good sled rides in and make worthy snowmen.
  7. Looks like snow to me. 33F. Streets are caving.
  8. That would be perfect for just 30 minutes. All I need is about 2 inches of steady rain. Looks like I might make it.
  9. Oh so close. another 3 hours and we would be in business! I just need a good soaking so I can make it until the forecast rain for Monday.
  10. Good. I just cut and seeded my lawn yesterday!
  11. Certainly wasn't expecting rain this morning.
  12. At the moment, I love it. I'm trying to nurse my lawn back to health after years of neglect. Just had it aerated and seeded last Tuesday. Getting lots of nice green shoots already. They said it would take 2-3 weeks for the new growth to hit three inches. They may get that long before the weekend if it keeps raining. All this rained saved me from having to use my own water and having a huge water bill.
  13. Nice steady downpour right now. Doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
  14. I'd like to join, but unfortunately, I'll be closer to the action in Richmond as it looks right now. But I think the event will be canceled.
  15. I'm not sure if you guys noticed, but there has been a constant shower just north of the mouth of the Potomac river in St. Mary's County for hours and hours. If you start a radar loop from yesterday morning, there's a shower that just kept refiring for hours and hours. It died out last night but briefly refired this morning. I don't know how to pull radar loops from a previous day, but I just noticed that the area just keeps getting inundated with stationary rain showers. That has got to be tied to geography right?
  16. Went for a nap thinking storms would form over us and woke up to dry ground this evening. Had to turn on my sprinkles for the first time in weeks. Can't chance being missed again today. Plants are droopy from me holding out until today thinking we would get some more heavy downpours. Oh well. If it rains it rains, if it doesn't, at least my plants are covered.
  17. Nice summertime T-Storm over me right now. Lots of wind, rain, and T&L.
  18. Whoa. The biggest storm of the summer for me right now in Adelphi.
  19. Got a nice downpour here in Adelphi from that tiny shower on radar.
  20. Well, looks like I need to start the sprinklers. Meanwhile, B-More is looking at round 2. lol
  21. Big rain hole around the Beltway. I swear sometimes the weather finds a way to avoid DC. lol You figure one cell would break towards our direction. I just want a gullywasher so I don't have to turn my sprinklers on. Waiting impatiently.
  22. Hate when that happens because I don't turn on the sprinklers. Then the storm says psych!
  23. I'll give it a couple more hours before I turn the sprinklers on. I have one tree that is stressed because of the lack of rain. I was hoping we'd get a little today. Looks like the front is fizzling out as it pulls through.
  24. Felt it in Silver Spring. At first I thought it was someone running on the floor, then it kept going and getting stronger. Funny, peoples' heads popped up out of their cubes like prairie dogs. lol Worst earthquake of my life. Actually saw the columns of the building swaying. On the third floor about 500 feet from the nearest stairwell. If the building fell, I wouldn't have made it. Hope this doesn't become a yearly thing. My nerves can't handle this.
