  1. That's a great story. I was a youngin' when I skied Evergreen. 6-7 yrs old. Warm winters, no snow-making, and bad financial deals doomed the place. http://www.nelsap.org/me/evergreen.html Pleasant Mountain is the highest summit along that monolith. Some nice hikes I'd recommend there. Nice views up on top where old fire tower is. https://www.loonecholandtrust.org/places-we-protect/preserves/pleasant-mountain-preserve/ Looks like Schrader is technically in Denmark. I believe I've told this story before but my family has long roots in Denmark. They used to own a lot of the land around the south end of Moose Pond.
  2. Yeah, it's a big fishing mecca. My buddy, whose family has a place over in Lovell on Heald Pond, thinks that pond could hold a record Bass in it. What little I fished in Moose, I never caught a Bass. Sunfish, Perch, and Catfish. Maybe a couple lbs tops.
  3. Literally grew up skiing that mountain. There used to be a T-Bar across the street from the Main Lodge where they would have lessons. I also took lessons Sunday River, long before the days of it being the behemoth it is now. The South Ridge area had a lone T-Bar and that's where I'd go. The last place I learned was at Evergreen Valley, which closed in the early 80s. That photo location looks lite it's directly across from our beach area.
  4. Is it off Mountain Road? If your in the market, there are cheap properties to be had. This is our Association which straddles Knights Hill Road. The pool is in the bottom of the image and the beach is on the right, which has a marina for boats, canoes.
  5. Bridgton is a great spot. We've had a family vacation home up there since 1980. It's close enough to not have to travel very long yet far enough away that crowds are kept down. Naples is a huge congregating spot since you have Long Lake, Brandy Pond and Sebago Lake all interconnected for boaters. Bridgton has a few large ponds lakes as well. We're near Moose Pond. Your 25 min to North Conway and 45 min to Portland.
  6. Saco River Valley play a roll in that cold retention.
  7. Work is nuts for us. Developers/clients are building houses/townhomes like crazy.
  8. Yeah, looks like some sort of Tree Nut Fruit
  9. Good numbers in MA today. Bucking the trend on places that opened early that are dealing with case and death surges.
  10. Look a the 1st picture I posted above. There are 2 Sunset Maples that I planted about 12 years ago now. They were about 1-2" trunks (10' tall) when I planted them. Just look at them now. Ones has to be about 5-6" dia now and 20' tall. Flourishing on there on now. 1st season is critical for success. Keep that root mass damp.
  11. I’ve gone there. Don’t think I’ve ever bought anything from them though. The trees I’ve planted I purchased at Briggs Nursery in North Attleboro.
  12. Front yard was edged and mulched while we were on vacation. Had the shrubs in front of the house yanked out. Long overdo for a makeover. Ready for plantings in the fall. Just need to come up with ideas for more color year round.
  13. Went up thru Evans Notch yesterday and stopped in Hastings where there is a bridge across the Cold River. Beautiful drive.
  14. If you can just provide the daily statistics, updates relative to the science and not provide political commentary or personal opinions about what’s occurring around the country and elsewhere, I’m fine with having some Covid information posted in here.
  15. Based on the angle of the shot over water, looks like we are looking at this area. You can see some areas where slides have occurred.
  16. capecodweather.net he just chose to take his focus elsewhere
  17. All you need to know is in the Spring Banter thread
  18. Hitting the pool today in our association. 86F and it’s not heated. Amazing how warm it gets.
