Absolutely! Im glad we are seeing this early in the season than later.

It’s amazing that just a month ago we had some of the warmest temps of the year and tomorrow will be some of the coldest! Amazing stuff

Let’s get this season started with a bang! Looking forward to the weather tonight/tomorrow! Today was a great day for outdoor activities.

Raining in Boone

The wind is ripping tonight. 

Has been pretty calm here in Boone, virtually no wind yet!

3.34 here in Dahlonega GA.  2.33 so far on Beech Mtn with a max wind gust of 52.
12z 3k NAM sure is bullish on the snow Saturday.

What is it showing? Haven’t heard anymore talks on snow since a few days ago.

Just mother nature’s way of giving the middle finger to all of us who talked shit about the crappy winter since we are all ready for Spring now.

It’s getting to be pretty embarrassing regarding what they cancel school over these days. We had wet snow for a few hours mid day and they cancelled for Watauga. I think even Floridians would laugh at the calls they make now.

It looks like your wind meter is having some issues. It’s been way off since about 8pm last night. Maybe it got blown over or something?

And then upper 50’s on Thursday. February’s have really been terrible recently. We lose such a prime part of the winter season.

You guys mean to tell me it’s still winter?!

Boone

Well I walked to the top of Big Bald (5500') a few minutes ago thinking I'd get some cool eclipse shots with the snowpack.  I got moderate snow still falling and 30+ mph winds with a temp near 0.  There's at least 5-6" up there in less exposed areas.  I'm over 3" now at my house.

Pretty clear here in Boone but still getting snow flurry squalls here and there even with the clear skies. Lunar eclipse is incredible right now.

My body is in shock. Was in 80 degree weather in and around Aruba all week and just got back tonight and it’s showing 9 degrees right now.

Light dusting in Boone, looks to have started around 4:30am

Hope all the mountain folks reel this one in. I leave Friday for an 8 day cruise to Aruba, Curaçao, Grand Turk and DR. I hate missing winter storms though!

Let’s not forget that the “old gfs” wavered the most and was the last one to lock onto the right solution with the Dec storm. IMO it performed the worst out of all guidance at this range.

I measured 13" on Cherohala Skyway out of the wind at 5300'..I have pics of DOT working up there, just having trouble loading them on here

Very minor accums here in Boone so far, just a dusting. Wound up with 5.5” of rain though

It was 37 on the bypass with slushy rain when I came through about 12:30. Still cold rain here at the store in Vilas though.  
 
Yeah frito lay just told me it's dumping on the bypass. Always the first place to get it.

I officially have snow mixing in now in Boone.

Several customers reporting a changeover in Boone in the last few minutes.

I haven’t personally seen any yet but it should be very close

That really is an awesome rain gauge.  How's the accuracy?

From everything I’ve read it’s pretty accurate, I need to get a weather station at some point to really compare accuracy. It’s pretty cool though!
