  1. PF can confirm, it's gusty here at 1778' in Stowe. Wind was howling all night. Mansfield gusting to 70
  2. We've always had problems, but the lower section we put in couple years ago is gone. All weeds, grass non existent. Going to have to start over with more loam. Got estimate on irrigation system including well. . About $15K. That's not happening. I am going to buy an aerator though for entire property with the hope it helps
  3. naples marina full. don't think jimmy has any room to move boats in. Glad mine is pretty close to the shore.
  4. So with all the dry weather in June then bunch of rain caused a mold issue on part of our lawn, which killed it. I remember a few weeks ago noticing the blades of grass were black. Didn't think much of it as it rubbed off pretty easily. On the news this morning they had a report about lots of lawns experiencing this problem. Good to know it's not just our lawn but it's one more death blow to the yard https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/local/lawn-fungus-threatens-yards-across-new-england/97-693efae3-94c0-4c31-a480-06058e3356a3
  5. Big waste of money is what it is. Poor topsoil and no irrigation. Weeds took over late last summer and think we had some grub damag
  6. We'll see if nearly 4" rn will do anything to "green up" the nasty back yard
  7. I'm going to try this stuff but there's little to no rn in the forecast
  8. Here's the final product. About 25 different shrubs, perennials and other bushes. Many are small now, but will get much larger. After many failed attempts of getting grass to grow in this spot, we thought this would look nice. Now we have to bring in more topsoil in the Fall and reseed the surrounding area around the mulch bed with grass seed. I'm confident that with good topsoil we can get grass to grow consistently well. I will say we need some rain quite desperately as the soil is bone dry.
  9. Work has begun to transform this failed lawn area with more natural landscaping with shrubs and such. Before and during. Will post when she's done.
  10. haven't cut the lawn yet. Letting it grow to get through the heat of this week. She's pretty tall (10") in the areas where there is growth. I'm putting minimal effort into this this summer.
  11. 36.1f. Most of the snow gone but stiff NW wind and squalls atm. Pretty ridiculous for mother's day wknd
  12. I've not seen grubs in our lawn, but I treated for them anyways yesterday. Can't let the rest of the lawn get killed. Chinchbugs is the other likely culprit. Turkeys have digging a lot around the yard which suggests grubs, but every time I check I dont see any.
  13. Back to looking at how to deal with last summers disaster
  14. Is now a good time to put down some Grub-Ex or should I wait a while? Also, I want to put down some treatment for chinch bugs which I believe destroyed our lawn last summer. Is it better (and more environmentally friendly) to apply a combo product or should I apply 2 different stand-alone treatments?
  15. Given how much of our lawn got wiped out last season and mostly dead, I'm skipping the fertilizer for the most part. I will put some grub control down in the good spots.
