  1. I would never subject my kids to remote "learning." It's a snow day in my household. Sled trajectory and shoveling entrepreneurship are much more valuable than whatever teach has ready on Zoom.
  2. If only there were 12 more weather balloons.
  3. I would still like to see these publications if you have them.
  4. I'm surprised that it's more affordable to fly a hurricane hunter than it is to launch a few dozen balloons.
  5. If there are observed and measurable reductions in model accuracy due to fewer balloon launches, please link me to this info.
  6. At the risk of pointing out the obvious, we have not one but two systems that need to resolve and play out that will have some impact on the upstream flow. There's at least 3 vortmax cluttered across the playing field immediately ahead of the two that would become the big coastal.
  7. Did he delete stuff? I see a respectful back and forth.
  8. I wouldn't weenie this post but I don't find it compelling. Dave is a proud, loud, card carrying Democrat and I feel his weather opinions are biased by his political opinions. If I am reading his graphic correctly there are 18 fewer balloons going up over the USA every day than before the budget cuts, and 5 of them are downstream from us. How many more private balloons are going up today compared to 5 or 10 years ago with data available to the globals? Have sattelite density and observational quality improved at all? Are the number and quality of plane sensors unchanged? What percentage of reduction does this represent when accounting for balloon soundings globally? "Fewer balloons is bad and ruining modeling" is a pretty simple take on the matter. As another poster said we've seen some abysmal model performance over the last five years, particularly the GFS since its latest "upgrade." These failures predate NOAA budget cuts.
  9. We have renamed the UKmet after uncleweathbee
  10. We have heard about your burmuda high pressure theory for days. Please stop posting unscientific drivel.
  11. The self appointed WxTwitter hall monitor does not approve. https://x.com/i/status/2022447652550402496
  12. Noone is afraid to hear it. We're just exhausted by your insufferable, boorish repetitiveness.
  13. Two years ago I had snowdrops blooming 2nd week of February. This year I just have snow. I like this better
  14. Also looks pretty low amplitude and negligible on forcing
  15. I'm hoping for another foot because I like the mayhem
  16. I saw pics of people in Philly parked on sidewalks. Near me in Princeton I couldn't believe how poor the plowing was- shoulders not cleared, corners not cleared enough to see around. I wonder if a bunch of old heads retired and this was the first "big" snow for a lot of people plowing.
  17. Warlock was referring to Mount Holly, not OKX. Mount Holly was painting all of their zones north of 195 in 12-18" 24 hours before the snow started. 36 hours out they were 12-18" all the way down to northern Delaware. Most people in OKX's zones verified but further south, Mount Holly hugged the NBM way too hard, way too long.
  18. After their 12-18" calls 24 hours ahead of Sundays storm? No, that cannot be taken for granted any longer.
  19. Its not. That's a factor of the beam angle height
  20. I thought someone was getting 3 feet
  21. Flipped to 100% sleets in Montgomery, NJ
