  1. Anyone having issues with posting pics/vids/gifs? I keep getting error messages and it is no longer letting me embed them into the forums. If anyone has any tips let me know.
  2. Hurricane Florence has the potential to be the strongest Hurricane in History to hit the Carolina coast. Might rival the infamous Hugo. Going to be a crazy couple days of tracking that thing! I think I enjoy tracking Hurricanes more than snowstorms that may hit us. A thing of beauty!
  3. Best matches I see are Fran/Hugo. Thinking it has that type of potential. Fran was 115 MPH Cat 3 at landfall, Hugo was 135 MPH Cat 4.
  4. Agrees with HPC. I figure 2-5" of rain across most of this forum within next week.
  5. Really intense storm going through right now. Just severe warned. * At 1119 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Derby, or near Hamburg, moving east at 40 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and penny size hail.
  6. It will be interesting to see if Florence doesn't go out to sea. I'd say 90/10 ratio right now it goes north up into the Atlantic vs landfall. It's already pretty far north for there to be a landfall historically speaking.
  7. Peak Hurricane season is the best. Going to be tough to top last years though. Definitely an interesting next couple weeks!
  8. It matters more for the deeper lakes than it does for Erie. Erie can have 1-2 cool weeks in Oct/Nov and be below average just like that. For the other great lakes warmer summers/falls definitely matter for lake effect in winter.
  9. That cool down that was showing up is virtually gone. Looks like the month will be well above normal.
  10. Sorry guys I hope that band dies. Going to concert at Darien lake at 6.
  11. I read forecast discussions all over the GL and NE and I feel like Buffalo is the best. Especially in the winter as I think the people that work there are winter enthusiasts like us.
  12. April is by far the worst month of the year. Cool and damp all day everyday. September often features mid summer warmth, football and hockey season start, and the trees starting to turn. It's also peak tropic season.
  13. Yep. Central/Western based El Ninos are the best for sustained cold in the northeast/GL. An East based Nino results in a warmer winter.
  14. Our last below average winter was 13-14. That was a weak Nino. This coming year is also a weak Nino. http://ggweather.com/enso/oni.htm
  15. 2018: +1.1 (August and September will add to that) 2017: +1.7 2016: +2.9 2015: +.3 2014: -1.2 2013: +.5 2012: +3.8 2011: +1.3 Welcome to global warming.
  16. The traffic this summer in the Buffalo area has been ridiculous. I honestly cannot wait for winter just for that to be completed. The skyway is closed, the 90 is being worked on, exit 57 in Hamburg is getting torn down. Everywhere I go there is traffic. It seems they waited to do it all this summer.
  17. I'll post the numbers for the entire year when I get home from work. Feb 2018 was a torch wasn't it?
  18. The beat goes on. I expect week 2-3 of September we get a decent cool down. Can't believe Sep 1st is Saturday. What an incredible summer. I'm curious to see what we stand at for June-August in terms of disparity from normal. I'm thinking at least 5-6 above normal for those 3 months.
  19. There was also a tornado warning in Mckean county with some decent rotation.
  20. We actually lost power here for a min when that storm came through. Had a lightning strike really close to the house. Decent storm.
  21. I’ve traveled all over the world and I agree Buffalo holds a special place in my heart. But they’re are many places I could see myself moving to. Family and my social network all reside here so it’s always tough to leave that. I’d also miss going to Bills and Sabres games too much. My uncle and aunt have a condo on the water near west palm beach. It’s worth 5-600k and their taxes are under $3k also no state tax. That same house in the village of Hamburg and you’re paying 15-25k in taxes per year plus our high sales tax.
