  1. I thought it almost lived up to its strength. 30 miles inland recorded gusts of over 135 Mph in Lake Charles. It was a "non event" because of where it hit. If you look at google maps, its all marshland. Its like a hurricane hitting the everglades. It would cause very little damage.
  2. At 412 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Erie Basin Marina, or near Buffalo, moving east at 50 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail.
  3. This severe looks like mainly central NY into Southeast NY
  4. That entire coastline is going to be permanently reshaped. Lots of marsh lands around that area. It's going to look totally different after this.
  5. I expect surge in the 20-30' range and inland up to 30 miles. Pretty incredible stuff. Luckily it's not too populated.
  6. WNY has highest infection rate in the state at this moment.
  7. Has potential to hit 5 before landfall, but think it falls just short.
  8. Going to be a brutal camping trip this weekend if that happens. Hoping its more scattered over there.
  9. I can feel this way, but it's still August. I'll be ready in October this year. Usually I wait until November for the cold. I really don't want to get my hopes up for football. I have a feeling covid is going to make a huge comeback this fall. It isn't going to magically disappear. And with everything opening up and everyone staying inside as it gets colder, its a bad combination.
  10. We got hit pretty hard here. Trees were down all over. The intersection at 62 was closed this morning. The thunder woke me up. https://www.spc.noaa.gov/climo/reports/200824_rpts.html
  11. I had the best workout of my life tonight. Went at around 830 and only 25 or so people in the entire gym. Everyone wore mask and wiped everything down. Feels good to be back!
  12. Yeah, her cancer came back and its not he best diagnoses so far. Shes gets chemo every 3 weeks and immunotherapy which is experimental treatment plan that is very expensive. Appreciate your thought and prayers!
  13. Balance in everything. Always good to be frugal, have an Emergency fund, and save for retirement. But always spend money on things you enjoy and people you love. My moms on her way out at 55 years old. It came out of no where. I let my phone ring so she can leave voicemails. I want to listen to it when that day eventually comes.
  14. Just don't save too much. Make sure to live. I've seen so many death certs on my desk the last few months. Some of the craziest stories. Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Get out there and enjoy this planet!
  15. Heading up with a bunch of people to hike some more high peaks this weekend. We are going to backpacking for 3 days. We will be sleeping in hammocks. Conditions look quite cold up there this weekend. We are doing 5 more peaks, the Dix range. I'm thinking 30s on the high peaks. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-york/dix-range
  16. That's a good question. I'm not sure. Thanks global warming.
  17. This was all me. I work in the field, she knows nothing about finance/business. She literally does not know anything of our financial situation.
  18. This is true along with Kayaks. I could sell mine today for double what I paid.
  19. We're actually in a deflationary rate environment right now. Things are cheaper now. The theory that printing money endlessly causes prices to skyrocket may not be true in modern society like it was in the past. Their are many factors that go into this. population, consumer spending, consumer saving, etc.... https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/inflation/current-inflation-rates/
  20. There's a growing body of literature linking climate change to a slowing of the jet stream. The end result is "stuck patterns." Alaska's record warm summer last year, Siberia's record warmth earlier this year, and Phoenix's record-setting summer this year are some recent examples resulting from a greater persistence in prevailing patterns.
