  1. Should be severe tstorm watch issued for all of NY soon. Atmosphere is primed with perfect timing of the day.
  2. Getting sunshine here. Prime conditions this afternoon for some good stuff away from lake breeze.
  3. Went to Adirondacks this weekend for some hiking, just beautiful conditions with many cloud inversions
  4. It always switches, we likely get our furnace in winter.
  5. July Temps Buf: -.5 Roc: -3 Wat: -2.7 Seems Lake Erie is keeping overnight lows pretty warm.
  6. My pool is overflowing with how much rain we've had https://kamala.cod.edu/ny/latest.nous41.KBUF.html
  7. We left Friday night at 9 pm, drove 6 hours, started hiking at 3:30 am and got back to parking lot at 4:30 pm after hiking 16 miles and hitting up 5 high peaks, stopped at a brewery and drove 6 hours home. Just woke up after sleeping 11 hours. 14 more high peaks until I hit 46! Perfect day in ADK! This is the hike we did https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-york/dix-range Those are the vermont mountains out in the distance facing east.
  8. I'm doing these 2 trails in Montana before the glaciers melt next month, doing 1-2 more but haven't picked out yet https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/montana/grinnell-glacier-trail https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/montana/iceberg-lake
  9. Mount Jo is a beautiful hike that is short distance. Ampersand has incredible views but a little more strenuous. Indian pass is really beautiful, although a long hike, rated as moderate difficulty. The Saranac 6 are the ones I'd recommend doing. In terms of the 46 high peaks the easiest by far is Cascade. That is the one most people start on. I've hiked all over and the ADK 46 hikes are some of the hardest I've ever done. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-york/mount-jo-loop-trail
  10. The west looks to have a ridge nearly all summer. You just know that is going to swap come winter time. Trough out west and east coast ridge.
  11. Make sure you go to diamond beach for a sunset, and the Snaefelsnes peninsula was incredible.
  12. I had a trip planned to Alaska next month and when I rent to book my rental I had to cancel my flight. The flights from Buffalo to Ancourage were cheaper than I've ever seen, I thought there had to be a catch and there was. It was $3500 for a rental car for 10 days up there, just insanity. They are renting Uhauls up there and using them instead, but with gas so high it would be similar pricing. Instead I booked a trip to Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming for $1000 for 10 days. Air bnb prices were pretty cheap up there for next month. 2k total for 10 days isn't too bad to explore yellowstone, tetons, and glacier national park. Plan to hike about 100 miles in 10 days up there. Let me know if you have any questions about Iceland, I went there for 2 weeks a couple years ago. Still my favorite trip of all time.
  13. Perfect hiking conditions tomorrow Saturday Mostly sunny, with a high near 75. Light north wind.
  14. Some very dense fog around Buffalo this morning. 1/2 mile visibility.
  15. https://kamala.cod.edu/ny/latest.nous41.KBUF.html
  16. Another below average winter coming if a moderate Nina again. I'll take a weak to neutral ENSO.
