Waterfront is a great thing until it isn't.  Even the cutest little meandering stream can become a rip-roaring rage if enough rain falls in a short period.  Buying where we bought, far from a water source, was definitely a consideration.  There have been stories of even small steams ultimately washing out entire homes.  Not a good idea in the changing landscape and climate.

I have patches and piles left, but I'm only at 800 feet and started from about 8".  I'm guessing higher up the mountain still has a few inch snowpack, especially out toward the ridges of Stokes and High Point.  I might take a ride up Sparta Mountain later on if I have time.

Approximately 2.6" of rain here.  It looks like I was right on the edge of the heaviest stuff but just missed it.  Still impressive.

The wind here seemed worse at 6 pm yesterday than overnight.  I heard heavy rain a couple of times, including another brief drenching around 3:15 AM, but the rattling and whooshing of wind never woke me up.  The power flickered a few more times but stayed on.  Our partially finished basement took in a little water but the french drain worked.

Temp 49, 1.25" of rain.  Wind is calm-ish for now.

Ripping pretty good here in Sparta.  I don't have a great anemometer, so my peak gust means nothing, but Sparta PD reports several trees down and power outages in town.  Our lights blinked but so far have stayed on.

I could buy the 9" in Vernon.  I'd be teasing 8" if it weren't for the changeover.  

Party's over for now.  6" OTG but it's turned to a sleet and rain mix.  Temp 32.  Radar is not depicting precipitation type accurately.

That's here.  It's ripping snow right now, with 5 inches OTG.  That more than doubles my obs from an hour and 45 minutes ago.

2.4" OTG in Sparta @ 800 feet.  Temp 30.3 with no signs of mixing yet.

Moderate snow.  Temp 29.  Good coating on everything.

The pre-treatment they do is utterly pointless.  Our community driveways and sidewalks were pretreated last night, they sprayed shit everywhere, made a mess, and barley a quarter inch of snow, and everything is covered.  

I'm on the community HOA, so I'll put up the counterargument.  But I'll lose.

MANDA and I are in an area where sometimes a five minute drive can mean a difference of several inches.  I'm at 800' here.  I believe parts of Sparta/Jefferson are 1300'+  I've already seen twice since living here zilch at our house while the top of Sparta Mountain has plowable snow.

I'm not thinking that scenario plays out this time.  But I can easily see the top of the mountain beating me by 3" (say 5" vs 8").

Rainfall approaching 3" here.  The wind has not been that much of an issue here, just a couple of twigs off the trees so far.  Temp currently 58.

We did lose power around midnight - restored by 1:30 AM.

Down to 32.  Usually, I concede our potted annuals at this point, but several are actually still blooming, so I brought them in since it's supposed to warm up again.  I'll probably do the same tomorrow night.

Toasting up out there now.  Beautiful afternoon after clouds and even some sprinkles earlier.  

Maybe this was already said, but the Walpack NJ spread for yesterday was 39/83.  I think another instance where that station achieves both the daily low and high temperature for the entire state.

With all the damn flooding of late, here and elsewhere, I feel like this is going to start taking a tool on the supply of reliable vehicles, as well as vehicle insurance premiums.

The clouds and winds were impressive here.  Gusts to 35-40.  Only picked up 0.15" as most of the heavy rain missed us.  Dewpoint dropped from 76 to 64 in a matter of minutes as winds quickly kicked up.  Temp down to 67 now after a high of 90.

Wow, this is the muggiest I've seen all summer.

84 degrees, dewpoint 76.  NJ weather has a pocket of almost 80 degree dewpoints over NNJ currently.

Rumbling around up here with some brief heavy rains.  The sky this morning is very picturesque with the early sun illuminating the storm clouds.  

Given the bathtub water in the gulf, what's the chances Idalia blows into a Cat 4 or 5 whilst crossing the gulf?

1.33" when I add the 0.11 from late last evening + 1.22 from overnight, which fits with Manda's map.

It was ripping pretty good for about 15 minutes just after 4am, but with no thunder.

Now just misty and overcast.  Quite a miserable day.  Probably not much gets started again later without the sun to heat things up?

Wow that is one helluva line coming in.  Must be some 70+mph gusts with that.

0.25" here.  Some rumbles of thunder.  Nothing remarkable.  The line must've weakened before it came through.
