Absolutely dumping in N. Bethesda.  I picked up an inch in the last 15 minutes, and it's still coming down hard.  Up to 1.8 for the day.

Up to 3.3 for the day, and over 2.5 inches in the last 50 minutes.  This has been one of the more impressive hour-long rains I've seen.

Beautiful day in Cambridge. Started out chilly and very foggy, but by 9AM, it was stellar. Perfect day for my niece and I to do her first century ride.

Congrats on the century.  Perfect day for it.  I only managed to squeeze in a quarter of a century between the kids' soccer games.

75/56 here - just awesome out.  No northern lights to be seen with all the light pollution here lol

Ha!  The northern lights here are Rockville, and the southern lights are Bethesda...

The only two spot that I think you could see locally, due to limited light pollution, are Blackwater Wildlife Refuge or Deal Island State Wildlife Management Area.

There used to be a spot near White's Ferry that was really dark.  Not sure how all the sprawl in NoVa has affected it.

here's something for you guys to drool over for a bit. the CanSIPS is basically forecasting a high-end moderate Modoki that would have an insane February. ideal tropical forcing, neutral PDO, Pacific is mint, and there's a very active STJ along with blocking

    nice to see, at least

"The storm is 10 months out" is the new "the storm is 10 days out"

some people, like myself and a handful of others, find the way weather patterns evolve interesting and try and forecast them. and then try and determine threats and track them too

And others of us without your skills really enjoy reading your thoughts.  Thanks for all you've shared in this and the previous threads.  I've learned a lot.
