I get all that, but radar was a lot of nothing today. What radar were you looking at? There were a bunch of storms along and east of 95 in the 12-3 window. I had one pop up overhead that dumped 1.15", with over an inch in less than 20 minutes. Sure, it wasn't widespread as Saturday, but there were definitely storms around that were profilic rainmakers.
-
Dew point got up to 80 after we had a little pop up drop a bit of rain. Send help!

Twinbrook. Just west of Aspen hill
That makes sense. I'm about 2-3 miles south right by the Grosvenor Metro Station.

Nice thunderstorm here
vivid ctg lighting
sub severe here 35 - 40mph gusts
0.32” in about 10 min
Where are you in Rockville? Your obs are almost always very similar to mine.
-
Radar indicated 60mph, but winds didn't effectively mix down to the surface here. Gusts didn't look higher than 40s. Still a fun storm

That cell might be rather photogenic if you can get a view of it.
I tried to get a good view of it from the backside after it passed over me. Too many low level clouds obscuring the base. Definitely saw some lowering between clouds, but couldn't see it well enough to see if it was rotating or not.
Edit: It was really trying to get its act together when it went over me. The updraft that formed the hook was directly overhead and I saw the associated rain shaft form directly overhead. There was a ton of vorticity, but nothing organized until after it passed me.

I was there with my son. They're one of his favorite bands. I wasn't sure what to expect without Chester, but Emily was pretty bad ass. Hope you enjoyed it!
Back OT: dark and damp here, but no new precip

Did I hurt your feelings? Why did you delete my posts? Wanna meet up in person sometime for a beer? Having a hard time understanding why you would delete a comment. Are you from the 51st state? Super confused. 1st ammendment pal!!
1st Amendment doesn't apply to a private forum, genius.

Something to consider. You are comparing a forecast to a model output. The NHC forecast you’re citing uses evidence and model output is one piece of that. But you’re comparing two very different things here aren’t you? One is a tool to help us get a final product and the other is the final product.
This exactly, and if you were comparing the same thing, you'd see that the NWS never forecast a 1+ foot snowfall. Their forecasts and discussions have consistently mentioned the possibility of the storm missing our area to the south. Wx53 is right that the models can be wrong. That's why the forecasters don't simply forecast what the models show. They digest them as one data point in their forecasting process.

Ok, I got two camps about the thread. Do I open Ji's storm thread NOW or wait until 12z tomorrow? Hit the "100" reaction for now and Trophy cup reaction for tomorrow and I'll move accordingly. voting closes after the Euro runs.
Let PSU start a new thread for his storm. Ji brings bad juju.

From a 8th floor balcony in OC, I've seen anvil tops for a storm as far west as Frostburg. I was pretty shocked how far away it was.
