Come on man 5" rain by tomorrow and a nasty mild last third of December better than 50/50 chance favorable it ain't Hopefully improvement in January still too early.

Awesome another big rainstorm on the 22nd. After this week on my way to my first 10" rain December. It really has a chance no joke 5" will be on the books.

Mild last third of December is gaining favor due to Pacific influence. Seems like as the years accumulate that segment of December has a 70% chance of being non wintry, shouldn't we start naming it the December thaw? Makes more sense than January.

GFS long range is nothing but a random fantasy, euro is too but at least it's a slightly better one

It's all about the analogs, past winter patterns with the predicted AO/NAO/ EPO/ PNA /background ENSO, MJO cycle and even solar state. Climate change plays havoc with analogs.

12z ECM NW of yesterday's which is looking like one errant mid range blip it often did that last winter. 90% of the time these Miller B's that hit New England the snow maps are too generous in the SW quadrant, food for thought.

Let's hope the ECM comes in something like the Canadian. The scales have tilted too far now for a southern system.

We like our snow and ice with the better winter sun angle basically. I also could have added any snow I can get in fall particularly around Thanksgiving, you get geared up for winter since frost so the first event even if the ground is still too warm is good. Had all systems go with close to 1" before Thanksgiving last November then... It seems like nature has to balance things out to get to near average with the current decade 2011-2020 running significantly above normal for snowfall.

Larry C nailed the first 2/3 of winter nobody wanted to believe it. But what did he say originally about February? Large amount of great Feb's in his analogs and a couple duds.
