  1. Now getting a steadier SN-. Temp holding at 30 but dp is creeping up (now 17). Edit - yikes! Snow rate has picked up a bit now. Temp is dropping and down to 29. Dp back down to 15. Would say that the onset time (if this holds) was correct as progged for "mid morning".
  2. Here is a zoom-out of my GRLevel3 radar with LSRs. You can see some of those higher totals on it (also ETA the view from Sterling below DIX) -
  3. Now getting some flurries here in NW Philly. Temp is 30 but has been slowly creeping up tenths at a time. DP is still 15. ETA - Paul is definitely get a coating in spots out in Chester county -
  4. Looks like it is snowing in Paul's spot in northern Chesco. Still shot from his webcam - Edit to add my in Upper Darby (Delco) just texted to say that it is snowing there.
  5. Leading edge of the precip shield just coming over me. Currently overcast and 30 (dp 15).
  6. Yuppers. Mine is @ 30.60. That big 'ole high is holding sway at the moment.
  7. Found a link to his webcam there - https://www.wunderground.com/webcams/chescopawxman/1/show.html Current (doesn't look like it's doing anything there) at post time of this image -
  8. Paul (ChescoPaWxman) should be under it now over in northern Chesco.
  9. I would call it an eclipse of the current full moon!
  10. Current temp 29 with dryish dp at 14. You can see how that cold high is carving out moisture along the front end of the precip field with confluence, but the precip is still moving in from the W & SW -
  11. I know snow lovers are frustrated this year but I do know that last year we had like 20" of snow in March so we still have another month to go.
  12. Don't take it personally. You are one of my favorite posters because you are so dedicated with your OBS and I don't feel bad mainly posting OBS too.
  13. That's Phila. Flower Show week. Always tends to be some sort of weather drama during that time (either just before or during). For a few years, they were running it the last week of February and kept running into snow storms so they moved it to March and it has been hit or miss. This year it is starting a bit "earlier" in March and....
  14. One thing I do make prodigious use of is the NWS glossary! Here is what they have for "Watch" - https://forecast.weather.gov/glossary.php?word=Watch And agree that it will be interesting to see what happens - i.e., whether CAD hangs on tough or the cold air really gets scoured out quickly by a surge of warm air off the ocean.
  15. A "Watch" is just a "Watch". It's like a placeholder announcement that can eventually become either a Winter Weather Advisory or a Winter Storm Warning depending on whether the forecast reaches the criteria at a location. Just like a "Tornado Watch" can become a "Tornado Warning" or not and gets assigned to be some kind of other severe weather alert. Or a "Flood Watch" can become a "Flood Warning" or a "Flood Advisory" depending on what is ongoing (or forecast to happen) at the time.
  16. The "3" (whether that is the highest progged or lowest progged) does still fit into the criteria for an advisory. Otherwise they would have just put a mention in their HWO without any alerts and maybe lofted a SPS (perhaps as a short-fused one) for hazardous weather. I think some of the thinking too is if there will be disruptive winter wx, they will err towards going with an Advisory.
  17. The Winter Storm Watch isn't really an "advisory" or "warning" notice so not a "downgrade". It's a heads-up announcement to let the public know that one of the alert types will be forthcoming depending on criteria. Here is where they put the Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories -
  18. Philly Public and Archdiocesan schools just announced they will be closed tomorrow. Suburban Archdiocesan schools will follow their local district announcements - per KYW.
  19. Probably in the afternoon package. They have a 12-hour & a 24 hour criteria per my post here -
  20. It may depend on where that big 'ole cold dry high sets up and if it suppresses any stuff down closer to and below the Mason-Dixon line before the WAA comes swarming in. My dp is 14 right now.
  21. It's been awhile since I've seen "first call" maps posted in our forum. Brave souls!
  22. Yeah - Whenever I see a Watch go up, I know at some point it will either convert to an advisory or a warning (or both depending on where the criteria for each is met). Sterling had their Watch for Wednesday up for their CWA earlier but since we had an ongoing event, there was still an Advisory up from yesterday through this morning and then for clarity purposes, that needed to expire before the next round of notices would be posted.
