We don't need a phased storm to get snow.

I honestly think the nickel and dime storms throughout the year, with 40 degrees highs in between are way better than KU storms and highs in the teens after

It’s funny my block is all below ground because it was built in the 80s and 90s via blasting into a steep rock. But it connects to roads and houses built in the 40s and that’s where all the power is fed from… above ground.

You are only as good as your weakest point.

    33F this morning

Were the houses there first with above ground utilities? Or were the houses built in the 80s and 90s first, with the utilities already buried. I stated all new developments are getting underground utilities

  3. I laugh at the local Town Facebook pages of all the Karen's complaining about losing power in storms.  I'm sure them living on a mountain surrounded by trees that hang near powerlines have nothing to do with it.   Tell them all trees should be cut in a 50 foot radius and they throw their hands in the air saying we can't kill the trees either

We definitely seem to be in the minority as an online community. Most people that I talk to like the fact that our winters have become so much warmer. While many of them would be happier living in Florida, their jobs and family are here. Winters have become warm and snowy or warm and snowless. Hard to believe our last cold and snowy winters were 13-14 and 14-15. Maybe we can eventually get another colder El Niño modoki winter.

Im 34.  I love the warmth.  Ironically I work for a town so I have to plow snow, good OT, terrible social life in snowy winters.  Father lives most of the time if Florida, most of my family including my grandfather is down in Florida.  My Mom and my step father are looking to move from here to Florida.  My in laws, ones in South Carolina and other in Virginia.   I always joke with my wife that we and a few others are the only idiots in the family still in NY

Last night’s ensembles (EPS, GEFS, GEPS) were extremely ugly, +EPO, +AO, -PNA, +NAO, as far as the eye can see and they all have lost the -WPO look they had been advertising as well. The new CFS and CANSIPS runs for the month of December were equally as terrible

    Keep the golf courses open!

  6. Got out yesterday after a 2 hour frost delay.  Just barely made 18 with the sun setting.  First time playing in 3-4 weeks so could not find a swing groove.   Shot a 95 which is normal for me.   Of course I had to birdie the 18th so it forces me back to play

and still have not reached freezing in any part of our area, not to mention Monticello, Mount Pocono, Westhampton, Toms River, Marthas Vineyard or Scranton!

Going up to Monticello to stay the night at the casino.  Maybe some good colors there.   Also see you're from Oceanside.  Their fire dept is our "sister station" as they say

Yeah, February 2015 was our only top 10 coldest winter month since 2010. But there have been 9 top 10 warmest winter months since 2010.  Funny how the 14° warmer February 2016 went below 0° but 2015 couldn’t.

February 2015 was brutal riding the back of a garbage truck starting at 4am...it got below zero here, I remember mine and my co-workers boots were frozen that they sounded like tap dance shoes every step

  9. If I was told I could have a beer outside, in shorts, tee shirt and barefoot, while low clouds hang around on October 13, I would never believe it.   But here we are, kind of a humid feel but comfortable.  (dont worry already worked a 4-12 shift , that calls for a beer)
