Agreed. I fortunately had no issues here but a mere 30 miles north is a disaster area centered on the City of Kingston in Ulster County where they had .6 of radial ice. Central Hudson is the power company up there and has 90,990 customers with 44,044 customers without power right now. 680 crews out there this weekend trying to restore power.

Was never so happy to see sleet yesterday morning. Neighbors to the North in Ulster County are not so lucky. Time to start looking at ways to deal with the failing infrastructure.  Burying all lines sounds good, but would be an extremely painful slow, and very expensive process.   Option two.  Clear cut trees below power lines levels to help reduce these power loss risks.   Where I visit Florida, all power lines do not have a tree or tree branch in any distance

"Taxpayers storm."  You $#*%(*s even have a name for it lol.

Up to this point I didn't care how much I got, but now that I realize that I'm literally paying for it I want my money's worth god@$# it!

Lmao Saturday storms are way less stressful.  Everyone's home.  Also no worst feeling working a 7-330 normal shift, for it to start snowing at 3pm.  Work all through the night, clean up by 10, only to get stuck until 330pm to finish out your normal shift.   Up for 36 hours straight is no fun multiple times a year

Honestly I miss Aprils that used have a 90 degree day or two, don’t think it’s happened in 10 years though.

I remember doing striped bass fishing on the Hudson April 2010.   Very hot one day

I still don’t get everyone wishing for warm weather in March. It’s just another winter month especially north and west of NYC. To wish for sustained warmth in March is like wishing for sustained cold in September.

Off the top of my head I forget the exact figure but something like 5 of the last 8 winters in NYC March has been the snowiest month and north and west a few of those have been epic and I’ve enjoyed every minute.

Now if we could somehow flip flop the great Marchs for the lousy December’s we’ve been having snow wise I’d be all on board.

    Just a pet peeve.

Because snow in March sucks.  Well snow in general sucks.  Bring on the warm and sunny days.  More fun things to do

  5. About 4 inches here.  Pushed off the roads then put some salt down.  Got home 530 am.. Phone rings at 7.  Rain washed away the salt, and the ground is still super cold, huge layers of black ice covering 100% of the roads.  Absolute nightmare getting back into work, also got my salt truck stuck going up an incline, finally got my way out after 15 minutes

Good morning nyr1022. You might also have to trade the Rangers for the Panthers. As always ….

    .

Watching Duclair on the Panthers now, hes some player.  I knew when rangers traded him he would breakout in a few years

I almost miss those storms even though snow to ice to rain is sorta of depressing. However I remember those storms in the 90s having much colder airmass at onset. This storm is starting at best upper 20s-30 in the metro area. Those storms used to start in the teens.

I remember being a kid in these storms.  We would have 4 of us friends shovel out a football field at his grandmas yard.  Play football for a few hours and ultimately turned to sleet and then rain.  Seemed like every storm did that here too in orange County

No thank you.. I would take the heat over the cold any day.. that’s why Florida is on the horizon

Way more activities to do outside.  So boring staying inside when you're not a skier or snowboarder

Time to move south… wouldn’t have to deal with this cold.. who agrees

Me. Cold is stupid.  Days are short.  Can't do much outside.  Season goes by the slowest out of all 4

  10. Dusting here.  Another OT call to do a quick pass on roads dropping salt.  Automatic 4 hour call out.  Maybe even do it again overnight, which would be double time for holiday.  Just this week alone I can buy myself a new golf driver just from OT

  11. Called into work at 1230 for icing conditions, especially higher elevations.  Got back home at 3am.   Sleep deprived, with a covid booster shot yesterday, going back to work not feeling 100%.  Lets see if I make it to 330
