I want a solidly cold winter. All this BS about warm octobers leading up to cold and snowy winters is crap. We've had warm octobers, warm novembers, warm decembers... give me a REAL 1970s winter!

Yea sure, tell that to the people who struggle with sky high heating bills

    OT:

Kinda banking on warmth to return mid-month as I had planned a weekend up in LG with the family back in August with the potential for warmer than normal.

If not, we will bundle up but the wife might not be happy.

I hope so too.  6+ months of chilly crap gets depressing

8 straight days without a positive departure.  The next 10 days are all below normal on current guidance With coldest air mass of the season possibly next weekend.   1st frost/freeze for some of our northern burbs.  Haven't had a stretch like this in quite a long time

Not sure what you do work but I work in construction and I’m miserable in the summer because of all the sweating I do

I work for town highway dept.  Im blacktopping, mowing, tossing garbage, digging trenches, water leaks etc...in the heat.  It's nothing, just drink water or sports drinks and its fine.  Much easier to do in the heat than cold and damp or freezing cold.  Hard to work in thick gloves.  And I have no problem walking 18 holes in middle of July

So many things are dying but the weeds are looking pretty strong :axe:

Even crab grass here hasn't been growing too strong.   Although those damn locusts trees pop out of nowhere.  Ill look away for 5 minutes, then see one that's 18 inches high growing in middle of lawn.   I use a 7iron and practice my divot taking to rid of these weeds

  6. Central air been off Friday and today.  At least the electric bill will get a break.  Although that's completely washed out and much more being my water heater took a dump on me last week.  Got 25 years out of an indirect water heater, ran its course

I can't even remember the last time I cut the lawn. This has been the longest stretch of not mowing I can ever remember for the summer. We've certainly had summers in which the lawns burned out, but I don't remember anything this extreme.

Anyway HRRR NAM and RGEM are showing very little activity for today. Just a slight chance today and tomorrow. Not looking good as this extremely dry pattern continues.

That means someone will get slammed today

True, I have not mowed the front lawn in weeks. Just some edging. What is amazing is how some of the weeds can still grow out of the cracks in driveways and roads.

I have to keep pulling those pesky locust trees and crab grass in the lawn

You broke a hundred on a strange tougher course, that's a win.

Exactly, definitely feels like it.   My buddy who played with me, usually shoots upper 70s at his home course.   He shot a 96, granted he used rental clubs there but he didnt use it as an excuse.  He even said the course is very tough.  Definitely needed a caddy or play there a few times for course management.

The 11th hole, looks like an easy  straight par 4 that looks a bit downhill so you can't see your drive roll out.   Plenty of fairway runway on the scorecard drawing.   Both in fairway, however my ball is on a severe downslope going towards the hole, and the hole is probably40-50 feet down from 170yards away.  Just standing over the ball was just about impossible to get a swing plane to even make sub-par contact.

Topped it right about 75 yards into the rough.  Hit a great recovery 56degree from 100 yards to put it within 5 feet.  Of course I lipped the par putt on decent sloped green:D.   Did manage 3 pars tho

  10. Just got back today from a cruise.  Played at Port Royal Bermuda on Thursday.  Shot a 99 and only lost one ball.   Bermuda rough and greens are a different ball game.   Add in greens almost always defended well with deep bunkers, and fairway bunkers strategically placed well, 99 is a good score for me

I have pictures but file size is too big.   The 16th hole is unbelievable

  11. Did a nice golf outing scramble today.  Unlimited booze, burgers, dogs and a nice buffet for dinner.   I was hurting for a few holes:lol:.   We  sucked and went +1 through 9, then went -6 the next 9.  Finished -5.    We had 7 other birdie potentials but none of us could drain the 15-20 footers
