    We now have a tussle going on between lows. It seems that the 500 mb does indeed close off just in time for all of us, its gonna pivot and rock us coasters for a while. Also let's not forget if the western low wins with a loop we get annihilated. Just throwing it out there...

    Precip still expanding nw a bit..echos now in ne pa. The hv is still gonna get some decent snow from this imo.

    Precip shield is still expanding a bit west..fighting dry air..also that l.i band is incoming in to nyc ..its already snowing hard and windy,might even park itself over us for a few.

    It's really coming down now and the city is about to get raked with this band enhancing overhead,if it's not already happening.

    One doesn't even have to look at the hrrr to see the moisture pumping off the atlantic. Above average sst's have alot to do with that. These bands are sharpening up as they come off the ocean also as everything gets its act together.

    500 mb...700 mb.. and 850 mb.. its neutral but seems to wanna tilt soon.

    Nice burst of snow here in the bronx,went from nothing to almost moderate snow. Gd lift is ongoing for the rest of the night as it intensifies coming up the coast,I expect some gd snows in the next few hours coming off the atlantic.

    All the ingredients are currently mixing. Keep in mind phasing of lows near the coast means we get a more westerly bomb

    Things are looking gd for us in the metro,don't hang on models my friends just current trends. The pivot is gonna be real and it's not hard to tell it's coming if you just watch the water vapor loops and satellite images. If the western low of a double barrel wins out,we cash in.

    This baby coming right up the chute,the coastal low is literally just off florida,not further east as models initially had it. Looking amped as well with the backside energy diving and swooping in. Where it phases and how fast it closes off is key..

    Snowing here in the bronx..light pixie dust. It's been snowing aloft over the bronx for most of the morning btw which prob primed up the atmosphere quicker when this batch arrived .

    Beautiful and yet so dangerous for those who ingnore this potential extreme weather event..the northeastern coast would be cutoff from most of the country for a couple of days if these totals verified.

    Those above average sst's are gonna fuel the train of moisture with a inflow like the one depicted. We saw the extreme precip rates when the last strong inland cutter passed by. Now we stay on the cold side of things with the same precip coming in.

    I mentioned this possibility literally a hour or so ago..nyc might be crushed in either scenario.west or just east..the mega death band will find us in between.

    Snow is def ahead of schedule and it should actually start to expand in coverage from now till the event.

    Meanwhile the overrunning snows are already starting to build over us and to our west. The radar should start to pop soon.. it also seems that the low off florida might keep this baby closer to the coast by acting as a block and setting up the coastal boundry just off the coast and not farther east in to the sargasso sea. It is just about a nowcast situation anyway folks.
