Between the fall drought and the recent cold...grass here looks pretty much toasted in most places. Your grass seems to green up earlier than TRI. You have a green thumb!
Even with the little snow we got between it and the ice our grass is pretty much toast here too

Is there a good link to read up on how the mjo affects weather, I've heard it mentioned for a while but never really read into it

Moderate snow in Greeneville now

I've had snow showing up on radar for a few hours, some look like heavier showers, but I see nothing out of my window? It was flurrying at the onset but nothing since. What would cause this? Sorry if this is an amateur question lol
Virga maybe

So was this round of mix just a bonus or the main event? Haven't really seen simulated radars of this so not sure the progression of this storm

Topped out at 30 degrees, was supposed to be mid 30s by now. Will be surprised if we make it above freezing

We are at 16 right now, was supposed to be in the 20s already so Greeneville is running colder than modeled. Will be surprised if we hit the forecast high of 24

The irony is the apartment we just moved out of in November got 6", it's only...
Five freaking miles away lmao

I just don't get it, even with the heavier bands we get a few minutes of big fat flakes coming down hard then it's as if the heavier bands break up over my area and it transitions back to light drizzle. Officially throwing the towel in, travel around here is going to be treacherous though with all the water and slush freezing tonight

Quarter sized flakes just now falling here

I'm glad to hear that! Wild that it's still rain here and we are only four miles apart
I hope the temperature drops and we all get snow before all is said and done

Still rain here in Greeneville. I'd imagine we are in the running for the bust award for this system. Western and Northern Greene Co have healthy 4-5'' totals. What a total warm nose screw job lol
It's finally staying all snow here

How much do you have? Such a strange system. I'm 99% sure this is to blame on timing. If this came through any other time really it's all snow.
I mixed with rain for a couple hours from 3-4:45 but even then never went full rain. And I was the one the high-res had no snow for.
We maxed around 3in then the rain compacted it and it's a snowy slushy mess out right now. Sitting right at 33, needs to hurry up and cool down!

There's a battle going on right now, huge flakes and then rain rinse and repeat, looks like snow right now hopefully it stays that way

We have kicked and clawed our way to 4" of snow. Rates right now are decent. Within an hour we should be dealing with cooling due to darkness and higher rates. Hopefully, that will force the rain/snow line to recede.
Shouldn't heavier rates also help bring cooler air down as well?

I feel your pain. We've been in the same boat all day.
Temps starting to drop and we've got some heavy bands heading this way, have faith bud

You've done better than I have. I'm near Tusculum. Had roughly an inch of mush until this rain started again.
We're fairly close to the airport, wild how just a couple miles north to south make a difference with this system. I still feel confident we will end up doing well, but this system has kind of baffled me at the same time

I normally would agree but the rain has already washed all the snow away again at my house. We would probably be around 3-4" right now if it had snowed all day. I just do not see us rebounding to hit the MRX 4-6". Hopefully I81 along the northern county has fared better.
We've still got many hours left, once the heavier bands make this way and sun angle goes down, it should accumulate quickly. Also what part of G Vegas you in? Got about 2-3 inches still here

Raining again Greeneville. We had roughly an inch. That should just about do it. Just not enough time for there to be any serious accumulation. Congrats to all who hit it big with this one. It's criminal what the warm nose did to the upper valley. Hopefully we get a 4-6'' snow before the season is over.
Dude this is far from being over lol

This is definitely the most bipolar snow storm I've seen, it'll mix for 30 minutes followed by moderate to heavy snow then back again. Hopefully the rates help cool the atmosphere and keep it all snow towards the latter part of the day

Always been curious with the rise of AI and quantum computing the future of meteorology. I'd still think people will need to interpret and explain the data but more than anything I'm interested to see the accuracy. Imagine a forecast 2 weeks out with nigh perfect accuracy, that would be wild.
