Indeed, it looks wet for many areas of the SE late week into the weekend. Also, the latest drought map for the SE overall looks good and way better than it looked 2.5 months ago thanks to El Niño. I know N GA could use a break from recent heavy rains with plentiful creek/river flooding (I saw it) and fortunately it doesn’t look too heavy there. My area (SE GA) has averaged near normal though not too far away in Charleston it has been too wet.
This is how bad it was 12/26/23:
Fantastic improvement most areas since then with dry area of E NC in line for heavy rain by weekend:Yep the drought from last fall has been erased but we haven’t had measurable rain since March 9 and it’s quickly dried out during that time. Friday should be wet but we’ve seen a lot of recent systems fall apart for central NC this spring so hopefully that trend is halted. April and May are typically dry months for us so going into them dry can be a bad thing as we start to really warm up.

Not to mention everything is lemon yellow from the pollen
Pollen is terrible right now and getting worse by the day

Hopefully we get some good rains Friday-Saturday because it looks exceptionally SE-ridgy/dry beyond the weekend and it truly hasn’t rained much here lately. Western areas and South Carolina a different story
-
0.00” rain here. NWS had bumped us up to likely pops but nothing. Completely evaporated moving into central NC

83.7 high today. Pollen is bad
-
0z GFS even drier. Gets us to 27th with 0.0” of rain for parts of central N.C. For central N.C. these are not positive trends especially in areas that have missed out on some of the heavier rains recently.
-
GFS now in alignment with other models showing virtually no rain (<.25) over the next 10 days.

44 last night for the low. 34 was the coldest we got the last few days but had frost two straight mornings before today
-
It looks quite dry over the next two weeks. 12z Canadian actually doesn’t have any rain for central NC through the entire run. Quite the change for the mid range compared to last few days
-
Absolutely dumping with this little line. We may crack 1” after all. Forecast seemed like a major bust in rainfall dept most of the day
-
The wedge broke abruptly around 10:00 here. We shot up from 48 to 65 over the next few hours. Still lightly raining but 0.78” so far

RDU never gets below 40 on the 6z GFS through 384
The same GFS that showed it snowing on the 20th on the 0z run

Still somewhat skeptical we get another hard freeze this year Raleigh eastward
Weather has been awesome this spring. I don’t mind the wet especially knowing we’ll be begging for it in a couple months, nothing has been prolonged rains either. Honestly it feels like a normal spring, unlike these delayed “winters” of the last couple years

Kinda got fringed most of the day with rain but did end up with 0.44” mostly in a two hour period this afternoon
Ended up picking up and additional 0.08” overnight so 0.52” will be the event total here

Wow I figured yall had been getting a lot with these last two systems

Picked up 0.05” overnight. Bit of a dreary day so far locked in with clouds and drizzle
-
1.04” storm total. Just like that we’ve flipped the switch back to soggy yards
-
Todays 0.51” was more than I expected. The storm, or shower since I saw no lightning and heard no thunder, was rather unimpressive otherwise. Winds were stronger this afternoon before anything arrived. Still lightly raining

Personally, I find that dry too easily turns to drought, then to seriously bad drought and temps over a 100 with a water bill to match. Let it rain baby, let it rain.
Agreed. A dry spring is a guaranteed drought a few months later

I have no more words for the disaster of a winter this was. Today was a 10/10 weather wise though. Hopefully we keep a mild spring well into May and turkey hunting and fishing is pleasant. I plan to bring my daughter along to the turkey blind for the first time this year so I hope we get some weekend days just like today!
