45/39 breezy and BKN skies. We fall.
Maybe enough for some mangled flakes in the AM.

My recipe for my specialty fall drink: 1 parts pumpkin beer, 1 shot bourbon, 1/2 cup lemonade, 1/2 cup apple cider, top it off with a drizzle of maple syrup and finish the rim with maple syrup dipped in pumpkin spice. Enjoy
I love that fall drink too but I skip the pumpkin beer, lemonade, apple cider and maple syrup dipped in pumpkin spice.

Wolf Creek always seems to do well in late fall/early winter.
As for K-Mart making snow. They probably will, but I wonder if they'd do better with dry air as opposed to saturated at 27-30F. Scott would probably be able to answer that.
But one thing about K-Mart, if given even a small window, they can lay down a ribbon in no time. I think FIS returns tour there in a month!

no doubt some flakes tomorrow up north above 2000' but yeah, even Wachusett can see some. Torchtober!

Snows before months end ?
Not in Torchtober. Climate change is REAL. You probably won't see any measurable snow this winter.

Most of our summers and early autumns moving forward will be like this one. Time to understand and embrace
Most??? I'd wager money they won't.

Based on radar, she's looking a little healthier with less dry air intrusion from the south. I wouldn't be surprised if winds are bumped up by a few knots.

Old Glory taking a beating. I've been watching the fryingpan webcam all day. Winds got to be near/at hurricane strength now.

Anyone know what ever happened to the GOES floater satellite images on NHC website?

FEMA has a kmz file you can overlay on Google Earth that shows 100 and 500 year floods:

The clustering has packed into SC and lower NC, sure. Either way, regardless of LF....where it parks itself is the bigger story for big floods.
No doubt!
However, if it comes in at Cat 4, wind will be a story as well.

qpf is insane. 2+ feet of rain

Agreed Kev, looking like a positive atmosphere for strengthening. Feel bad for hte folks on the Norwegian cruise ling going to Maine/ Nova Scotia instead of Bermuda. Not even going to come close.

It's looking like Tenney Mountain will re-open this year.

My local average in the west weak nino years since 1970 is 89 inches, well well above the ~55- ~65 average. Many instances of transient -nao in those years, look at dailies not monthlies
Any idea how ski country/NNE does?

I appreciate all the advice. I think I'm going to demo out skis between 95 and 105 underfoot, and see what feels best.

Looking to pick up some new skis this fall. My current skis are basically GS skis (185's (115-68-99) which are fine for anything less than say 6" of snow, but now that I'm getting in about 40 days/year, and the ability to hit most powder days I'm looking for something wider.
So do I get something wide like a Blizzard Rustler (142-114-132) just for powder days, or something like a Bonafide / Enforcer as an everyday ski?
