  1. Every so often we get an event that reminds us how helpless we can be to the weather....even if only for a brief period. December 2008 ice storm was like that here, just complete disaster for a few days. I think basically the entire town of Holden was without power for 3 days.
  2. Closest I came to 3 feet was December 1992 in Holden, MA....I stuck the yard stick into the ground and only 1 inch of it remained at the top. One of these days we'll break 40".
  3. Here's a couple pics I took during 12/13/07
  4. I wish I had it about 30 minutes later when the band was even more intense. That loop only shows it just as it was beginning to go nuts. But the inflow in SE MA is pretty amazing to see....the storm was like a little nuke. So compact yet so powerful.
  5. It was a great storm. Amazing to think we'd get an even better April storm just one year later. I've been quite lucky in my time here even though I'm a lot younger than many (though I'm realizing I'm definitely getting older too with all the ppl on here now who don't even recall Dec 92 or the '95-'96 winter).....I've been fortunate to experience ORH's top 4 winters and also their top 2 snowstorms on record. Also nine 18"+ events since 1992....nine....pretty sweet.
  6. I got like 16" from that April 1996 storm....we had gotten about 5-6" two days prior starting Easter Sunday evening. That was the storm that set the all time record for snowfall here....before it, we still hadn't beaten 1992-1993.
  7. Yeah I remember that one, but I have newer, better looking version now
  8. What in the sam hell is that....looks like METAR obs from Dec 1992 at ORH?
  9. Weenie Hill in Tolland you mean. Weenie Ridge is just north of me. I was back at Cornell for that one in Dec 5-6, 2002...I was back for the Christmas 2002 storm at least. N CT got the jackpot too in the Nov 27, 2002 system, I think BOX has a map of that one too.
  10. I'm a bit bitter about that storm as I got screwed with "only" 14 inches, but you know its a pretty good storm if you are disappointed with that amount. For so early in the season too, it was especially impressive, particularly along the coast (outside of the Cape).
  11. The coastal front actually set up over SE MA in that one...it was a cold storm, usually those CFs set up closer to 128 or even 495 that early in the season. Because of where the CF set up, your area actually got some enhancement. Then there was another area of ocean enhancement on the north shore where Peabody got like 3 feet.
  12. MLK back to back events this year while it was pouring rain at Kevin's
  13. There's a ruler in the snow where the shoveled path ends. Without that reference though, yeah, I could see how it could look like a foot or even a little more.
  14. 9.6" I believe...somehow the airport came in with 6.2" but you can clearly see from the pics that it was a lot more than that.
  15. Boston Traffic disaster snowstorm.... Sleet line mixing out SW of here in 12/16/07 1/14/08
