April snows are kinda rare, but then so are November snows...it snowed in April here last year. Decent event too.
I had 5-6 inches last year I think it was April 3rd

I can say I’m pretty much done with winter, don’t get me wrong I love a lot of snow and extreme cold, I’m a steam boiler guy my business depends on cold. But it also depends on AC in the summer. However I love summer more, I love extreme heat, I love July days 95-100 degrees with the sun out, with the daylight now extending my body is telling me it’s time to go outside but it’s still too cold. After St.Paddys day I am truly done and hoping we have some sort of spring this year. Also hoping to have a hot summer not a steamy one like the last 3 or 4 seem to have been. I have two Harley’s and they got cabin fever, I’m a fair weather rider so no rain or cold riding for me.
Seems like we go straight from winter to summer.

What years did those happen, Chris? Were those storms that favored SNE over NYC too? It's interesting how Suffolk County often does better with storms that favor SNE over NYC.
edit- sorry I read the snowfall amounts first and got distracted and didn't read where you said that happened last March haha.
That March equinox storm was absolutely epic for locations east of here. I didn't realize the south fork got so much snow in the mid March storm though! Did that storm favor SNE (Boston) over NYC? One of those late developing Miller B's like the April Fools Day storm?
That was an epic storm I live a mile from Islip Airport and we had 3-4” per hour rates and I believe Ronkonkoma had a 5” and hour

How can the Upton snowmap and my local accuweather differ this much? I know south shore LI is dubbed the “snowhole” of LI, but 2” for the entire storm when the NWS says 6-8” for the entire metro? Why this discrepancy?
.warm air is coming in and most likely
snow will turn to rain

national westher service forecasting 5-9 by me in suffolk but they are claiming it will be a mix of snow sleet and freezing rain. does anyone buy this? i was thinking this would be all snow or rain and sleet
-
the 6-8 for all of nyc metro area seems reasonabe except for the south fork of LI
-
As of right now how does the north shore of western Suffolk look for this event? We seem to always jackpot during storms like this for Long Island
-
Have a feeling the nyc metro area will receive at least one 6” plus event this month
