  1. I was in Greece summer 2003 so I missed the blackout. However, the summers I was here growing up, I used to live in central Queens where ConEd would lower the voltage to the point where our AC compressor wouldn't even turn on. It was a 220V machine. Every time it got really hot, the AC wouldn't do it damned job. Thanks ConEd! Astronomical bills well deserved.
  2. My wife said to fill up the cars with gas just in case we have to sit in there with the car AC if the power goes out lol I can't think of another conversation I'd rather not have more than that one haha
  3. The grid conversation was kind of on topic I think, it is directly related to the record heat we are anticipating. Trust me I'd much rather talk about mist and clouds than 108 degrees lol
  4. 0z Euro has 6 days in a row of over 100 degrees in NYC. We're all gonna die
  5. I am not sure they will be excited when the power goes out. Give me mist any day over that. Plus no one is truly excited about heatwaves if they go from AC to AC and they out of their way to avoid experiencing it.
  6. Do the 18z EPS look as hot as the 12z did?
  7. The only snow you'll be getting in 2048 is the kind that comes from Columbia
  8. 94 to 100 is a big difference for climate control systems, as well as grid stability, that's my biggest concern.
  9. CC has made us more damp and with onshore flow which caps max temps, but that doesn't mean the potential isn't there for us to set all time highs when we finally get a super ridge with a downsloping flow. Yes usually we just have higher dews and minimums, but the atmosphere is loaded and ready to go when we finally get the major heat ridge with the right wind direction.
  10. Not every place experiences climate change the same way, indeed. But when the stars align (which is always going to be rare but the odds go up) we can break our all time record highs.
  11. If that ridge and that flow verifies, it's going way above 101. We were overdue our super heat blast that practically every other place on Earth has already experienced in this new abysmal climate.
  12. I don't trust CONED to keep the lights on
  13. Every model agrees on a super ridge in the east. There's no way we're escaping this. Trust me I'd love nothing more. If this verifies someone is recording 110F.
  14. Euro has 107F, 105F, and 108F next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday lol. Here is Thursday:
  15. 106 in the park, but the park will record 99F
  16. MAX temps are probably around 110F because that map is the temperature at 2PM, I have no doubt with that type of flow we would get daytime highs a couple hours later.
  17. I have zero confidence the ripoff artists known as CONED can keep the power on with those types of temps
  18. It's actually a HAIR cooler for next Monday because the wind is more off the water by a tad compared to 0z. But 12z keeps heating up more and more for next Tuesday.
  19. Euro now has 107 degrees next Tuesday in NYC.
  20. Let's hope that ugly blob migrates west a bit over the next 8 days
  21. It need to be below 72 for me to sleep comfortably. Anything above that and I need a fan blowing in my direction. I can sleep just fine with temps as low as 60 indoors, I just use a comforter. Sleeping in the 80s would be impossible.
  22. Mid 100s deep into Suffolk County is beyond just being summer. That is historic
  23. 0z Euro has 104 degrees past Port Jefferson next Tuesday
