  1. Hope all is well with you mountain folks who I live thru vicariously this time of year. I’m hoping for the storm to trend better for us down here but if not I’ll likely be hauling up the family to Maggie valley on Thursday-Sunday. Watching model trends carefully, but hope we all can score! Good luck!

  2. I shared these in the mountain thread but will share here as well. I measured 2-3 inches this morning after the morning snow was wrapping up. We still are getting some flurries now but this morning was beautiful. We would have had 8+ easy if we didn’t mix all day long yesterday. The heavy snow from 4-6 yesterday was something I haven’t seen before up here but we would always lose it once we went to lighter returns and that hurt the accumulation part of this storm.

Still a beautiful snow and my third consecutive chase of MLK weekend up this way. There is just something about this weekend. Enjoy the photos!

  3. I am thankful not to be in their shoes this evening.  LOL.  It is literally raining on one side of Kingsport a the moment and heavy snow on the other.  That is a difference of about 7-10 miles.  Good luck in the Burg!!!

It’s truly goose feather flakes right now. If I could post a video. They are HUGE. It’s all turning white so fast

  4. This reminds me of the Christmas 2010 storm that I was here for. We mixed with snow and rain most of the day but never really accumulated much. Once the sun went down it got into the lower 20s and the small flakes really added up all night long. Obviously a different setup, but that’s when I’m banking on our accumulation. 12z euro was widespread 6-8 and snowing into tomorrow afternoon. Very similar to GFS. Some of yall are loading up to the west!

  5. It’s just not accumulating much here for the most part. I’d expect the evening and overnight hours to really deteriorate once we lose the sun and temps drop. The mountains usually squeeze out every ounce of moisture the atmosphere has before the system exits.

Moisture returns look incredible downstream. We just need to get well below 32 degrees.
