  1. We made it back to Birmingham around 4:30 this after noon. It was a little hairy getting down the mountain but once we made it to ski mtn road it wasnt too bad. Not too many places you can go in the SE and see over a foot of snow and make it back home the next day. Really do love this section of the forum and follow it like a hawk in the winter. Id love to retire to the mountains one day and live the life yall do. I’ll keep following and will see yall again next year! This storm was up there with January 2022 for me. I have never witnessed anything like this in Gatlinburg during the last 15 years of chasing up there. Happy winter to all of you! Awesome pics, Buckethead. .
  2. Evening stroll with the wife. Hammering again Listening to Christmas music .
  3. Steaks about to go on the grill! Look at my truck bed. My dad has had more than enough as you can tell. Closing in on 18 with 2 foot drifts. Still snowing lightly. Hoping we make it home tomorrow! What a storm! .
  4. Hardest it’s been the whole time. Placed this one hour ago!!!! .
  5. I feel like Buckethead. I keep thinking it will let up and then the flakes get bigger again. .
  6. 13.5 inches and still puking. NWS forecast for the afternoon says 5-9. .
  7. This is mind blowing. I can’t imagine much more but I better start because it’s got a ways to go .
  8. Latest HRRR says another 6+, this is special. I have never come close to this in Gatlinburg and this is so much like January 2022 for me. What a storm! Love all the pics yall are posting and I appreciate yall having me for this one. .
  9. 10-11 inch measurements everywhere. Ratios are ridiculous and it’s been hammering all morning. It’s unreal. My dad shoveled the driveway and it’s 3 inches deep and he did it an hour and a half ago. .
  10. Sitting at 6 inches this morning outside of Gatlinburg. It’s coming down good. Think we will make a run at a foot today. NWS saying 4-8 more today. .
  11. It’s a snowglobe! No telling what we will wake up to, should hammer tomorrow too! .
  12. Man it’s coming down now! Flakes are still small but this reminds me of Christmas night 2010 and we woke up to about 8 inches. Bands are really building .
  13. Dusting on all surfaces, still small flakes but intensity is getting there. Gonna be a fun one! .
  14. Lightest of flurries starting to fall at 2700 feet right outside of ober Gatlinburg. Peaks of sun as well .
  15. NWS forecast was upped for our area this morning outside of Gatlinburg. They are now saying heavy snow tonight and tomorrow with 3-7 tonight and 3-7 tomorrow!! Probably will be my biggest Gatlinburg chase as they normally are 3-6 total. Christmas 2010 was probably the biggest for me up here. Lake Toxaway in January of 2022 may never be topped. .
  16. Just made it to our cabin! Little bit of snow up here from earlier this week! We have a great view of do downtown Gatlinburg and are walking distance to over Gatlinburg! Just cracked a Michelob ultra after a long ride with our two and four year old! Cheers! .
  17. Just booked a cabin in Gatlinburg off Ski Mountain road at about 2500 feet. That location never fails me when their is flow involved. Leaving tomorrow and look forward to spending a weekend in this thread with all of you!
  18. Might have to make a mountain chase this weekend from Birmingham. Looking at Gatlinburg, Highlands, or Maggie Valley. I lurk here every winter and this one is looking ripe. It’s been a tough year to chase in the mountains. This is y’all’s storm! .
  19. Hope all is well with you mountain folks who I live thru vicariously this time of year. I’m hoping for the storm to trend better for us down here but if not I’ll likely be hauling up the family to Maggie valley on Thursday-Sunday. Watching model trends carefully, but hope we all can score! Good luck!
