NC/SC target wouldn't be good for anyone. Especially after those in Western NC last year around this same time. Hope it just shoots up North. -

I'll be a nervous wreck for the next 5 days I see. Praying this doesn't occur. Not just for the sake of my vacation but for the sake of anyone and everyone along the Gulf and Atlantic coasts. -

I appreciate you doing that for me. That makes me nervous, knowing there may be absolutely nothing to stop it from gaining strength and on top of that, shooting directly at Florida or into the Gulf. -

Basically, this one could very well be a threat to either the Gulf States, Florida or the East Coast and there's no telling until about 5 days or so from now. IF it did happen, what would your best guess be on the date that it would arrive to Contus? -

Any chance you could explain this like I'm 4 years old? (I'm trying to learn, forgive me). If not, totally fine! I'm probably in way over my head trying to learn tropics. -

Well, I'm glad I came here after a 5 month break (winter destroyed me, still in Richmond, VA) so I left the forums for a while. I'll keep peeking in here this week and next to see if anything major changes. Maybe I'll be the forum storm chaser if something does occur. Knowing my wife (she doesn't listen) she'd end up still wanting to go if a cat 5 hurricane was aimed directly at Tampa. Joking, kind of.... -

I appreciate your post, sincerely. Thank you for going into a bit more detail for me so I can get some sort of relief temporarily. I'll keep an eye on it for the next few days, I forgot how this forum works.. even during winter people posted weenie maps of massive snow events that were 3 weeks out. -

That makes me a feel a tad better, guess I'll know more in 5 days right before I leave for the trip. -
That gives me some sort of relief I guess. Hoping whatever forms shoots up the East coast into the Atlantic. Is that more likely to happen instead of a direct hit? Seems like the rest of the storms between now and then are making that curve. (I don’t know much about the tropics so please forgive my ignorance).

You’re absolutely right, we could ask for a delay. I’m going to put aside the house topic for now, because that’s doable really at any time. I should’ve clarified. We haven’t picked a house yet, we are going down to choose from 3 options we like. Down to our final three, so that can be put on pause. I’m mainly concerned about my PTO because I’ve had this week circled for 6 months at this point. It’s more so a vacation as well as house hunting. The neighborhood we’re looking at his multiple houses for sale and it’s a safe distance from the coast and at a higher elevation. I know it’s a risk you run living in Florida regardless. I’m hopeful for the sake of my vacation & sanity that it does not happen and even more so hopeful for the residents of FL. Edit: not 6 weeks, 6 months. -

It's more inland and away from the coast at a higher elevation, that was my first thought when my wife and I discussed about a move to FL. It's all job related as well. -
So it's growing increasingly likely this will likely hit Florida? I don't follow the tropics like I did winter weather in the Mid-Atlantic.

Well, I could but it's also the week I took off of work and paid for a place to stay for said week. I'm not sure if it's refundable either (wife ordered the AirBnB). About to have a full blown panic attack. I need this vacation, not only this house. I know I'm likely over reacting a bit prematurely but it would just be standard for my life for a hurricane to pop up the one week I've decided to take a vacation (that I desperately need for the sake of my mental health). -

Going to Tampa Aug 15 - Aug 22nd to close on a house. Should I be concerned about this or will it likely shoot up the coast? (This is also my only vacation of the year) -
I'm going to Tampa from Aug 15 - Aug 22nd, the latest GFS and Euro models have me concerned. We are going down to close on a home (also my only vacation time of the year). Should I be concerned? I'll be so pissed off if the one week I chose to take off this year is screwed by a hurricane.

It’s time for green gas, cold beer, baseball, grilling and pool time. This weekend the clock marches forward. The sun is at the angle that never pleases us snow lovers. It is time for warmth. Down here in Richmond, it was underwhelming incredibly but at least we got above our recent average. Maybe you guys up North a bit can lock one more minimal event again but it’s time for late days and GRILLING! Oh and of course March Madness. GO J-M-U Duuuuuuuuuuuuuukes (doubtful we get in but hopeful).

It’s over gentlemen. I’m glad we got what we got but in retrospect it was incredibly underwhelming. The last system gave me around. 3-3.5” and it melted within 12-16 hours. It was like it didn’t happen. Incredible it snowed for essentially 14 hours and it was barely anything. It was around 25 degrees all day and even the roads melted at 8 am. Guess it’s the normal in Virginia now. I’ll be in Tampa this time next year. I hope you guys rock on and get pounded by a HECS next year, I’ll be rooting for you. Thank you all who have been here and interchanged thoughts and feelings. Miss you, RVA! -
Sounds like some people here need to join Reddit, sounds like a safe place for them.

This was looking like a real crap shoot at 3-4pm today. Seeing that backfill followed by bands of heavy snow for 3 hours just made me so happy, especially knowing this is likely my last snow storm in VA. I admired every single second of this event. Crazy to think it snowed for 12 hours and we only ended up with 3-5 inches board wide in the metro region. This was really fun at the end. Thank you guys for sharing this time with me. -

You should make it to 4. You’ll be one of the last in the area to see the last few flakes. Enjoy. -

Yep. Everywhere around here besides maybe Bon Air is getting absolutely dumped on. We needed this. The roads are perfect. Honestly I’m glad it held off until night time because the sun setting is helping tremendously with accumulations.
