  1. Well, I don’t want to say that I hope I can’t go to VT this year, but I did just drop $759 (went up to $919 on 9/3) on my first ever season pass for N.Y. mountains lol. Tough calls this year. Now we wait and see what happens. If cases skyrocket this winter, might turn into a skinning / backcountry winter. Time shall tell. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Love it! Wait, when did Alteri’s close? When did you work there? .
  3. Think I’m going to bite the bullet and get a Gore /Whiteface/ Bellayre pass this week. I like how they are working towards carbon neutral and staying in state seems like the safest bet. Now hopefully it will be a rare blockbuster ADK winter.... you know.... like we used to have in the good old days. When there is good snow, Gore and Whiteface are fantastic mountains. $399 for my niece and $759 for me, unlimited at all 3 mountains with 1 free guest ticket, 1 50% off guest ticket, free XC skiing and fall foliage rides. Not to shabby. .
  4. Gore is spectacular with lots of snow. So diverse. Good steeps and endless glades. Pretty mediocre when snow isn’t good. And I’m not impressed with their man made snow. Too much water. .
  5. Been to Platty once. Crazy drive, great mountain. Went after 3’ of powder. Epic day. I think I have to make like 30 turns to get there lol. Can’t get there from here. .
  6. I grabbed an awesome tele setup on Facebook marketplace. Everything is like new with skins and all. K2 Shreditor 92's / 22 Designs AXL bindings, Garmont Ener-G boots. I haven't telemarked since the 80's and I learned on skinny skis with leather boots and 3 pins with no cables. Haven't tried it in 30 years, but should be much easier with this setup. Boots fit perfect and just had them heat molded. Will VT let me in this winter lol? Their county by county map is something. Things feel pretty safe here in Albany County right now, yet Albany County is on the mandatory quarantine list this week. Will ski areas be requiring Certificates of Compliance? That's why I'm reluctant to get an Epic or Ikon Pass. If I'm "stuck in NY, I was thinking of getting a Gore / Whiteface / Bellayre Pass, but I'm feeling pretty gun shy about it. I'm also wondering how the season pass thing will work with mountain capacity limits. Tough decisions all around. Let's hope for a ton of snow so that we can ski just about anywhere!
  7. Looking at Killingtons webcams, I can't believe how much snow they have for mid May. A combination of a cold spring and no skiers and boarders pushing the snow all over which must speed up melting. My son said that Mt. Bachelor in Oregon is opening back up for their last week. 2 chairs and 500 pass-holders a day. They apparently sell out instantly. 1-2 people per quad chair socially distancing. Gloves and face masks required at all times. Sounds crazy stressful if you read the pages and pages of rules lol They have a crap ton of snow out there.
  8. Gore was nice today. Super bluebird day. Nice soft bumps in the glades. Crystal clear view of the high peaks. .
  9. I’ve been eyeing that place for several years but haven’t made the trek. Looks awesome. I heard they had great tree skiing and a nice triple black lol. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Locals complaining that crowds were getting Colorado like. We got lucky and avoided lift lines all week. .
  11. Very impressed with Hood Meadows. We had to get there at 7:15 to avoid traffic chaos lol. Stayed in a nice condo about 30 min away. I guess people didn’t like the spring snow, because we actually only waited in one short line. Seems like lots of people left early. People said it was the least crowded Saturday since early season. Heather canyon is an expert skiers dream. Unfortunately they had about 12” of powder last weekend on glare ice on some steep bowls in heather canyon during the holiday weekend and 2 people died. Couldn’t see the ice under the powder and slid down into trees. Lots of serious injuries too. We found some nice bowl runs into the canyon with no ice and skied them over and over again. North facing slopes were packed powder due to low wet bulbs even though it was 40F. Sunny slopes were sporting spring hero snow. Very cool glacial valley. We had 5 bluebird days during the week overall and some fresh powder (8” first day, 1” 2nd day)!! Not your typical Pacific Northwest weather lol. .
  12. Sweet! How was the coverage on the steep stuff? .
  13. Hoodoo was so cool! $25 Thursday lift tickets. Amazing views of the Cascades! .
  14. Bachelor was great! Hitting Hoodoo tomorrow and Mt. Hood Ski Bowl Sat. .
  15. Is that Middle Earth on Castlerock? We did that trail too. Sweet run!!!
  16. Hit Sugarbush on Sat and Killington today. Snow at Sugarbush was nicer, softer. Castle rock was a blast, just opened Thursday. Lincoln was crowded but Ellen wasn’t. Slide Brook lift was a blast. Just opened Sat cause they had to wait for enough snow underneath it for snowmobile access in the event of an evac. Still need more snow but a great day overall. KMart was firmer and no lines. Thank you Super Bowl. Woods in Ramshead were fun! Notched 20,000 vertical. Legs are shot lol. .
  17. Maybe he worked for Lyft? [emoji23] .
  18. Oh, and no lines at Gore today. Yay!! .
  19. Great day at Gore. 4-5” of soft snow. Some natural snow trails were open and skied well. Even skied a few nice glades. Blues had silky packed powder. Blacks were nice in the morning, then the ugly ice underneath started to appear by afternoon. Great day but as you all have said, need a big dump!!! .
  20. Might try to ski Sunday if there’s not a bunch of zr.
  21. Wonder how much freezing rain ski areas get this weekend. Doh!!! 3K NAM says a bunch. .
  22. Had a great day at Royal Mtn. No lift lines. About 5” Thu and 7” yesterday. They’re closed midweek, so snow was great. In the morning the cord on the groomed trails was the softest I’ve ever skied. Got 25 runs in. Only 500 vertical lol. Great day overall. Royal has some great lift line skiing and tree skiing but there wasn’t quite enough snow and they had trees and branches down in the woods everywhere from the last ice storm. Bummer? But great day overall!! .
