Compaction is killing depth
Not surprising with a warm ground and marginal temps

Should see rates pick up in a little

12z RGEM is nice

Hopefully that dryness to the south doesn’t hurt us.
It’s getting close but hopefully we’ll avoid it

I’m in between the two heavy bands. No sleet here from what I can tell, but steady snow.
I keep going back and forth. One minute its all snow, then some sleet will mix in then go back to all snow
-
Yeah unfortunately these heavier bands are coming with sleet
-
Wind really picking up

Reports of thunder snow to our west. Hopefully we get in on that later
-
Some heavier bands moving in from the south

Getting pretty gusty

Normally not optimistic but thinking we are going to get in on some great rates as this storm starts to pivot. To my very amateur eye the radar looks good moving forward. My main concern was getting the change over to stick and that has happened.
Agree. Think we’ll get heavier bands once the low pivots and we’re on the backside

Seeing some bigger flakes in the city

Curious to see what kind of rates we get once we get on the backside of the storm. That’s usually when we get our heaviest rates

Richmond is not getting 6
Will be lucky to get 3 imo
Fine snow with sleet here in Glen Allen
I don’t disagree unless we get heavier bands later. I’m curious to see what happens when the low is off the VA/NC coast. Will it bomb any then?

Latest HRRR and NAM are in agreement with around 6” in RVA. 3K NAM is 2-4

Not sure. Did you mean the 13z HRRR in your earlier post? If not, where are you seeing the NAM show those amounts?
My fault. Should’ve said 3K NAM, regular NAM shows about 6”

Do we think that will happen though? Radar doesn’t look too good compared to just north of us. Unless that heavier precip shifts south.
Maybe we get in on the heavy stuff when it starts to pivot?? Low right now is still in NC
-
12z NAM shows about 2-4 in RVA, more just north. Seems about right unless we get heavier bands. This light to moderate snow isn’t going to cut it when temps are marginal

I am downtown now, live in Tuckahoe. View from 15th floor of James Center, not even sticking to grass, hill by Afton (near war memorial) clear and yellow and the Fed lawn, always in good shape is clean and green, mulch accumulations downtown only.
Not surprising given the rain recent warmth and rain. Will need heavier rates for it to accumulate on grassy surfaces

Live in Glen Allen/Hunton Park but work here in Mechanicsville. Moderate snow. All snow.
Starting to pick back up in Scott’s Addition

Will definitely need to get some heavier bands to come through if we’re going to get anywhere close to what’s being modeled
