  1. Looking back on this semi-disaster for the inner suburbs and DC, I'l like an explanation for why my temperature plummeted from 40 to 34 from onset to just as the snow started accumulating but hasn't budged even a tenth of a degree since, despite the sun going down and bursts of moderate to heavy snow. If it had followed a linear trend I would have been at 32 or 31 like many others and probably done better, as well as downtown. But it seems like the wet bulbing or whatever just stopped at a certain point, and snow actually started to melt. Edit: I'm not surprised at the outcome in heat island hell, but it was a little frustrating as I felt like we were ahead of schedule at 4 pm and then it all went downhill. Not your usual UHI bust, where you're too warm at onset and can't cool down fast enough.
  2. Maybe 0.3" in N Arlington. Band weakened just as it approached, but making a last gasp for accumulation on side streets or sidewalks. I need to move to Leesburg.
  3. Melting faster than it's accumulating, at least in my hood.
  4. Meh. It might drop a half inch. Radar looked great an hour ago and now it’s stopped snowing.
  5. More subsidence approaching from the SE. I doubt we reach an inch if we can't get consistent SN or SN+, and it seems that the storm has been too lully here.
  6. Possible for commudageddon in DC if they get into a legit yellow band.
  7. Congrats. We had 10 minutes of that here and it was pretty incredible. I imagine that's what lake effect snow is like, those type of rates except for many hours.
  8. Very very persistent area of dry air over Arlington/SE Fairfax/DC. Managed to get a coating, but now mostly melting. South, west, and north getting pounded.
  9. I don't think temperatures have even been the main problem here... seems like we just got stuck between bands.
  10. 100% snow though with the light precipitation ongoing.
  11. Wow, just sleeting here. Mix line evidently running right through N Arlington and NW DC.
  12. Light rain with perhaps some flakes mixed in. My PWS has 40 degrees, but that might be a little too high.
  13. Montgomery county jackpotting every storm is pretty impressive.
  14. Best rates and flakes of the winter outside right now.
  15. Gnarly band approaching DC but it’s moving very fast. Maybe I can eek out another half inch?
  16. Just measured 1" in Arlington. Light steady snow has started up again despite radar not looking too hot. Seems like it just wants to snow tonight.
  17. It looks like there might be some dry air eating up the returns moving eastward down 95 in NOVA... greens advancing into Maryland but can't make it to Fairfax county.
  18. I bet that policy will change again when they're forced to call nine delays in February and March...
