    Rant!!!

I remember a time when we would have a parade of clippers ( what happened to them) and when storms would phase and bring big storms (what happened to them). Outside of last weeks snow we have had nothing even to track and the next 10days to 2 weeks don’t offer much hope. It’s going to be almost the end of January and we will have snow one day this winter. Places in Kentucky and Tennessee will have twice as much snow!!!!

At least you've had 1. Here in Indy we haven't had any

Ben Gelber: "unfortunately we're gonna get some snow. Fortunately we aren't gonna get much but unfortunately it'll come at rush hour and could cause traffic issues"

This is why I hate TV weather. They overplay dustings then constantly make stupid comments like "oh this sucks its gonna snow a little bit"

    Drives me nuts.

I hate it too. Luckily a few meteorologists in Indy are snow lovers

Although it's fun tracking winter storms here, the higher population centers and therefore the regions with the most posters are once again in the crosshairs. Meanwhile, down here in FWA land, we will once again get fringed.

    Snow totals for the season:

    Nov. 0.7"

    Dec. 0.8"

Forecast snowfall for 1/2: Around 0.5"

    Maybe Ohio will adopt us.

I swear if its anything Chicago area it happened or didn't happen lol.

Yes! probably my favorite Christmas storm even though it occurred a week before.    Where it stayed all snow in western Ohio and eastern IN, as you said, you guys got clobbered.   I think there were totals above 30" in some places if not close to 40".    We received 7" of snow followed by about .5" of ice.   Got very cold following the storm right through Christmas.  Between the snow and the ice-covered landscape, it was an amazing scene.

My favorite winter storm ever. Seems to be forgotten a lot too. Indy had 8-12 inches. Just south and east started really ramping up. I think some areas in Southern Indiana like Washington County had 30-37 inches

I would posit that Jarrell, Phil Campbell, and Smithville are 3 of the strongest tornadoes in history, at least in the modern era.

But if you had asked me a week ago if we'd ever see another tornado to rival the Tri-State, I would have laughed because as inconceivable as EF5s are, a path length of over 200 miles is just as rare as one with an intensity of those three storms.  Perhaps even more rare, since I don't think we have anything on the books that was even within 80% of the TST.

Records are meant to be broken, and unfortunately I think it's a virtual certainty we'll see another day similar to 4/27.  It might be 5 years from now or 50, but eventually the synoptic parameters will be in place to unleash another near perfect outbreak of tornadoes.

I always thought the Philadelphia tornado on 4/27 was the strongest for some reason. 70 mph movement and 2 ft ground scouring. Imagine if that one hit more structures like others did that day

Sounds like he just panicked basically. Or just a drama queen. Just funny people resort to social media like that

Yeah I agree.  There were some unofficial readings at or near 110 in the Ohio Valley in 2012 where the worst of the drought was, so that adds confidence that it can happen in modern times if the right pattern comes along when it's been very dry.

Some place in Illinois. I think maybe Taylorville hit 113.
