  1. Snow has covered the mulch areas in Manassas. Expectations met. Still moderate snow in Manassas with winds breezy from the NE.
  2. At 5:00 a.m. it was sleeting; at 6:30 moderate snow in Gainesville. At 6:40, moderate snow in Manassas and 32 degrees.
  3. So based on what I've been reading this AM, and I already know this to be true, a better pass south of current forecasts at H5 would make a world of difference for the majority on this feed. So does that make the climo argument moot since it's not really climo that is the problem but the positioning of the players?
  4. 12k NAM starts as snow and ends as snow early Friday morning. I'll take it. Within range for the NAM right?
  5. I'm probably five or so miles NW of you Bristow. Those five miles may be the difference between a white icy landscape and puddles and puddles of ice cold rain. lol
  6. My bar is 2 inches of anything cold. Always nice to record anything before Turkey day.
  7. It has that feel, that's for sure, doesn't it. Having an active storm track up the coast certainly helps.
  8. Bristow unlike most storms, as we get closer to game time, the prospects for us have been marginally improving. We just need to keep that improvement going for a few more model runs. Can anyone explain what is causing the EURO to show a more southerly pass thru the mid Atlantic with the ill? And would anyone hazard a guess as to if we will see that trend continue?
  9. HP 2MB stronger in New England on Thursday as precip hits our area. CAD looks impressive.
  10. I'm concerned about the temps. I agree with you about the needed track because we need the winds to come from the north or northeast to cool us down.
  11. Looking at the 500 EURO maps, can someone tell if the upper level LP jumps to the coast at some point on Thursday? Looking at the GFS regular maps, it appears that there is a reorg. going on off the delmarva? Or is the LP just being blocked?
  12. Kind of a slow mover too. 24 hours or so of precipitation. Better placement just off the coast would help too. Regardless, I like the active east coast storm track.
  13. Is a little tropical system trying to develop in the SW Atlantic after the Tuesday storm leaves?
  14. I can remember many mild to warm Turkey Days. Hardly any snowy Christmas. But I also remember the week after Christmas being the transition time to real winter in southern NJ.
  15. 12z GFS thinks next week's storm is a little slower up the coast and a bit deeper. Also showed a couple of wet snow flakes at the end but just over Gainesville.
  16. ok, I'll say it. That's two runs in a row that gives the MA wraparound snow next week.
  17. That's a massive 1042 HP feeding cold air into a LP system. Nice outlook for the mountains and Pittsburgh area, as well as Cincy and southern Ohio. Wouldn't take much to change to let our area to see some white stuff falling.
  18. I would think you would need that Western ridge to be a little further West so that they would be more of a sharper trough in the East
  19. LOL.About the best I can do is forecast sunny and temps in mid 70's. That's about as close as I usually get.
