Nebraska Ave caved long ago and they usually keep it pretty clean due to Sibley hospital. Surprised ( or maybe not ) that cars are parked - no snow emergency? 

Have friends on a flight to IAD from Cape Town landing at 6am. Worried it will land elsewhere and they’ll be stuck there or stuck at IAD. Not what you want after an 18 hour flight, but maybe the price you pay for having an amazing safari vacation

In main thread someone said Milton has an IKE of 24 TJ -forecast to go to 70.  For non pros - what do these numbers mean in terms or surge?

I have a friend who is going to an outdoor wedding tomorrow afternoon in Tilghman Island. Doesn’t sound like any contingency plans were made. I just asked her to take pictures

Just back to DC this afternoon from Pittsburgh.  Was crazy watching this storm from afar on here and RadarScope. Lots of streets still closed in NW. had to do some scrambling around to get home. Did see about 15 electrical trucks on the turnpike and 270 heading south to help out. 

Back side of the velocity scan ripped thru NW DC and was pretty impressive. I’m sure there are some trees down - hearing a few sirens. Got a decent branch from neighbors sycamore in my yard

Scene at the end of my alley.  White SUV driven by very young guy going too fast down Nebraska Ave, took right on Nevada and lost control into parked cars. Luckily no injuries. New Range Rover is recent replacement for stolen RR. Haven't seen any plows or salt trucks all day, they were out in droves last week (?) when we had 1". 

Freezing rain in NW DC. Decent coating already

Did a small watercolor of kids sledding today at the Carnegie Science Center down the street from me. 2” and ice worked well for the snow deprived!

Moderate + snow in NW DC. Sidewalks coated. Nebraska Ave starting to cave. No mixing so far

Saw something strange in the sky last night (bad photo I know - upper band in this is the lower band, ignore cloud below) in Royal Oak MD, photo taken facing west.  Went outside after dinner, probably a little after 8 pm and saw what looked like 2 contrails, one right above the other. Lower was more dense and above one lighter and taller (didn’t show up in photo). Then we noticed that they never moved/drifted. Went out to dock to a get a better view and saw that each kept its shape/density and seemed to curve like a halo from each edge of horizon. It finally all faded after about 2 hours. Any one have any ideas as to what this could have been? 

Yes -- Thunder in NW. Looks like a train heading this way too.
