If you wanted to see how Chicago/Milwaukee could get demolished by a 20-30" blizzard while areas 100 miles east or west get little to nothing this storm is your template.  Kind of reminds me of the very thread-the-needle blizzard we got in Jan 1995.  Very narrow area of well over a foot, while areas on either side got nothing.  Was also a long lasting deform trowel like this.

I've been thinking your same thoughts all day.   Haven't seen a storm like this since the good ole days since a decade ago or more.   wack shit we living.  Glad we living still, homies.  Still ripping rain against the house..  This has been a tame storm punch,  but in the end there would have been 20-30" amounts of snow.

This would have been a mammoth snowstorm for Chicago/Milwaukee if it had hit a month or more ago.  A thread-the-needle monster for the ages.

Tried to flop those  weenie sediments on the wife.  She sorta got it and gets our sickness. Just shakes her head.  I love my wife.

  3. just a tropical blizzard  lite out there still.    crazy.. in 6 hrs it will be 24's of solid  precip. Day before we received close to an inch of qpf.   Rain  data today has been compromised  by the wind that happens every easterly wind storm.  Fake wx.. Fake yard ponds on 0.41qp. 40's  and lake breeze winds is mke springs.

  4. Still raining. winds whipping the rain around like you'd hope in january.  March and April have to be the most useless months  for cold haters especially coming off a nothern climate winter. O, well, deal with it. its, climo...

Yes and no. I mean sure, there is some place in the vast spectrum of things we make, build, and do between the extremes of “Truck Nutzz, luxury yoga center, and sports mascot” on the one hand and “food, infrastructure-critical utility work, and ventilator tech” on the other where we need to be in terms of producing things.

That’s some point between the things we need right now and the things we want or like. Because of course there are effects that resonate down the supply chain where, I don’t know, theres a company that that went bankrupt which mostly made novelty easter eggs, but also, was a little known subcontractor that made a little plastic widget thats in every god dang lightbulb. And now all America craps in the dark.  Or whatever.

But the big issue right now is ordinary people need to be able to pay rent or their mortgage, buy food, keep their utilities on, keep their car payments up, and keep their insurance.  IIRC those categories there account for something like 70% or more of US household expenditures, especially in the lower earning half.

Canada really stepped up to the plate for their citizens. all levels of govt are listening to their public health officials and their recommendations - along with strong collaboration between the federal govt and the provinces as well as between the provinces themselves.  govt implemented fiscal measures to help canadian citizens and businesses who've been impacted by Covid19 get by for at least 4 months. there is a strong sense of community and feeling that they are all in this together.

Then there is US. incompetent leadership, anti-science and this horrific prioritization of the economic well-being of the .01% over the the health and lives of the 99%

one time payment of $1200??  We spent trillions on useless wars.. spent trillions in 2008 bailing out banks and other industries for the 2008 crisis.. spent billions bailing out airlines a few years back that took the funds to buy back stocks instead of investing in their workforce, ect.  and the list of corporate bailouts go's a mile long. yet when it comes down to it, is unwilling to spend barely anything helping out its own citizens who lost their jobs due to a pandemic?

  6. WI. Republicans are among the most craven and disgusting in all of America. City went from 180 polling locations to 5. counting on extremely low turnout and all the better if they can kill off a few POC in the process. That's been the GOP policy for decades

Minimizing your time going out is one thing, but no way I'm staying inside at all times for the next month (or probably longer).  I will start wearing a mask... if I can find any.  Otherwise will have to improvise.

Why would anybody have to stay inside all the time.  Nobody believes in that.  Just stay far away from human contact as possible. Too bad the economy was more important to this adim early on and STILL is. Good luck trying to find a mask btw.

Being cooped up indoors (I hope you have the windows open at least) with no exercise isn't the answer either.  If you're worried then wear a mask and increase the 6 foot rule in order to get some fresh air.

this is what we're dealing with folks.. holy ****

How have you guys changed your habits during this?

I keep hand sanitizer in my car.  I always change my clothes right after coming home.  I disinfect my phone way more than I used to.  One thing I don't really do is wipe down groceries and other items so I guess I haven't reached a 10 out of 10 on the paranoia scale yet

It only takes one mistake bro..   work on them groceries and never leaving the house if you can.

Should enjoy the solid stretch the next week or so because it seems the general look Easter weekend into the following week is the ridge shifts east and we may be in the volatile zone of storms.  Would truly be something if we had a wintry threat around my bday for the third straight year.

meh, climo.   took me many yrs to figure  it out also.  Toss out Lake Michigan and spring climo would be a walk in the park.  We get porked along the lake every yr.

Can't he just bypass the legislature?  In Ohio I think the public health commissioner (or whatever the title is) stepped in and basically said we're not having this election because of the public health hazard.

you're smart enough to figure it out my man..  I'm outraged.
