  1. I’m gonna track this a little more and see if the trend holds... Took a glance at the map at 540 and KBUF was showing 71. They did drop to 69 at 610 when the metar updated, but the surrounding stations also showed a drop. So if we are going to analyze this have to take the readings right when KBUF updates since it’s an hourly update vs real time on the PWS. Either way really looks like KBUF is reporting 4-5 degrees higher than the surrounding stations.
  2. Thought that line of showers was gonna dud out over the lake. POW!
  3. Was like that line ran into a brick wall and splintered apart Surprised it flared up as good as it did up by me. Tons of rain, really strong wind gusts, no lightning, no hail, only getting a little thunder going now.
  4. I’m thinking the low cloud deck is gonna be too thick to see anything neat on approach. Looks like Dunkirk to Hamburg is gonna get smoked.
  5. Watch Posted! 6. Just getting that nasty look outside now. Sky is hazed over, wind is howling 30+, dew point up to 72, can see the low level cloud deck ripping. Just got that feel that a good storm is going to roll in shortly.
  7. Already starting to get bubbly upstream. Hoping for a little action around here today.
  8. Those storms just keep vanishing once they hit the metro. Nasty line over Southern Erie
  9. TWC people are tucked away safe. Need to watch the Live Feed Chasers. Reed is out deploying a sub sonic sensor for the northern eye wall intercept. Don’t think you can get a more text book look. The inflow to the eye is just ripping.
  10. Couple Live Stream Links if anyone is watching tonight. Looks like it’s going to start going downhill fast! * Until 100 AM CDT. * At 1053 PM CDT, National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated extreme winds, associated with the eyewall of Hurricane Laura, were moving onshore along a line extending from 15 miles south of Sabine Pass to 6 miles southwest of Creole to 7 miles south of Freshwater City, moving north at 25 mph. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING SITUATION! * Locations impacted include... Beaumont, Lake Charles, Port Arthur, Sulphur, Orange, Nederland, Groves, Port Neches, Lumberton and Vidor. Reed is driving around St Charles Group camped out upper level of a parking garage in downtown St Charles.
  11. Have to see if this holds together on its ride across the lakes
  12. Had one in October 2018. Was a waterspout in Buffalo Harbor, lifted up and then touched back down briefly in West Seneca. EF 0 but it did rip a roof off an apartment complex.
  13. Dang! Was on the fence about going down to the lake tonight. Should have went...
  14. Crazy storms tonight! Cells kinda leap frogged over me but still going on 3 straight hours of that deep thunder. Couple cool pics I saw.
  15. Love watching all those subtle gust fronts blowing out in every direction, interacting with each other to fire up these storms. The lake shadow is holding strong in the metro still with partly sunny skies, but dark dark clouds all around.
  16. 17. Watching quite the light show from the arm pit of WNY weather (aka The Transition Zone). Nothing more than a sprinkle here throughout the day. Waterspout activity on Lake Erie earlier today!
  18. PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BUFFALO NY 357 PM EDT THU JUL 30 2020 ...NWS DAMAGE SURVEY FOR 7/29/2020 TORNADO EVENT... .TORNADO CONFIRMED IN SOUTHERN MONROE COUNTY... START LOCATION...WHEATLAND CENTER IN MONROE COUNTY, NY END LOCATION...SCOTTSVILLE IN MONROE COUNTY, NY DATE...JULY 29, 2020 ESTIMATED TIME...653 PM TO 657 PM EDT MAXIMUM EF-SCALE RATING...EF0 ESTIMATED MAXIMUM WIND SPEED...75 MPH MAXIMUM PATH WIDTH...100 YARDS PATH LENGTH...4.2 MILES BEGINNING LAT/LON...43.0019/-77.8222 ENDING LAT/LON...43.0050/-77.7440 * FATALITIES...0 * INJURIES...0 ...SUMMARY... A SUPERCELL THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPED OVER GENESEE COUNTY AND TRACKED EAST-SOUTHEAST FROM JUST SOUTH OF THE INTERCHANGE OF THE NEW YORK STATE THRUWAY AND I-490. SCATTERED TREE LIMB DAMAGE CONSISTENT WITH STRAIGHT LINE WINDS WAS FOUND ALONG THE OATKA CREEK UPON FOLLOWING THE PATH OF THIS STORM INTO MONROE COUNTY STARTING JUST EAST OF BEULAH ROAD AND CONTINUING THROUGH MUMFORD. DAMAGE BECAME MORE CONCENTRATED UPON CROSSING WHEATLAND CENTER ROAD AND ENTERING OATKA CREEK PARK. A GRASSY FIELD WAS LAID DOWN FLAT IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE STORM MOTION WITH TREE DAMAGE TO THE SOUTH END OF THE FIELD INDICATING ROTATION WITH SEVERAL DAMAGE TREES HAVING BROKEN TO THE NORTHEAST. FARTHER EAST, A PARTIALLY- FLATTENED CORN FIELD WITH TWO SHALLOW-ROOTED UPROOTED TREES ALONG ITS SOUTHERN PERIPHERY WAS COUPLED WITH SEVERAL BROKEN TREES ALONG A HIKING PATH THROUGH OATKA CREEK PARK INDICATING OPPOSING DIRECTIONAL DAMAGE. SCATTERED DAMAGE CONTINUED FARTHER EAST FROM OATKA CREEK PARK ALONG QUAKER ROAD SOUTH OF SCOTTSVILLE. A SECOND MORE CONCENTRATED AREA OF DAMAGE WAS FOUND NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF QUAKER ROAD AND ROUTE 251. SEVERAL TREES WERE DOWNED ALONG THE HILLSIDE WEST OF ROUTE 251, INTO ROUTE 251, AND ON THE PROPERTY AT THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF ROUTE 251 AND QUAKER ROAD. THIS INCLUDED AT LEAST THREE UPROOTED SHALLOW-ROOTED TREES AND ONE APPROXIMATELY FIVE FOOT DIAMETER BROKEN AND TWISTED HARDWOOD TREE ALONG WITH MANY DOWNED SMALLER LIMBS THAT INDICATED A CONVERGENT DAMAGE PATH. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE MAJORITY OF THE PATH OF THIS STORM WAS ALONG OATKA CREEK AND THROUGH THE OATKA CREEK PARK AND IN AN AREA THAT IS PRIMARILY RURAL, THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO ANY STRUCTURES. BECAUSE OF THIS, THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE USE EXCLUSIVELY TREE DAMAGE INDICATORS TO REACH A CONCLUSION OF AN EF0 STRENGTH AND MAXIMUM WIND SPEED OF 75 MPH.
  19. 16 degree temp drop here pre and post squall. Looks like the clouds are thinning back out to the west so maybe we can reheat a little again. Decent batch of convection over Western Lake Erie might bring us some more action later?
  20. Ehh kind of a miss on forecasting that line to roll through like it did. First softball game of the year and the girls only got 2 innings in. On a side note trying to explain to non weather people that the sky is about to unload is a daunting task. On another side note... I was the only parent who made it to the car with a dry shirt. Can’t say I didn’t try to warn them lol.
