  1. Power back - highest gust here so far was 55 mph.
  2. I'm nervous too. I've had 3 gusts over 50 - my temp has slowly fallen from a high of 67 down to 63 now. I'm ready for this to be over, but we have many hours left.
  3. Just had my first gust to 50. Interestingly, the last 30-45 minutes were much calmer than it had been since mid-morning. She's cranking now.
  4. Just had my highest gust yet - 46 mph. It's getting windier by the minute it seems.
  5. KMDT sustained 28 gust 43 at the latest hourly ob - it's going to be something later on.
  6. From 9:55am: Once we get into the mid to late afternoon hours, more dominant downward motion should begin to take over, which, enhanced by downslope northwesterly flow into the Susquehanna Valley, is expected to enhance wind gust potential. We`re still anticipating 50-60 mph gusts in the Lower Susquehanna Valley, with the prime time for gusts between about 3 and 8 pm. Wind gusts of 35-45 mph should be more common across the rest of central PA, with our present configuration of wind hazards remaining in tact.
  7. CTP's updated discussion states the worst will be between 3pm - 8pm this evening.
  8. Hoping the wind's bark today is worse than it's bite. Also - received an additional .01" of rain early this morning to give me an event total of .09".
  9. .08" here. Definitely not a soaking - it's completely dry under the trees and has been all afternoon.
  10. Must be one heck of a front coming through - 72 and muggy as crap here.
  11. Thanks - that's kind of what I was afraid of. Tis the season.
  12. Those who like/follow severe weather - @Wmsptwx what do you think of the chances for our first legit severe threat of the season early next week? Seeing talk already surrounding the 5/3 - 5/5 timeframe.
  13. Hah! I have never noticed our Lilac like I have this spring - it really does smell great!
  14. Talkeetna is really cool, I was going to mention it in my first reply but didn't want to get too wordy with it. Love sitting outside at lunchtime and soaking in the quirkiness of the town. And yes - heading north from there on the Parks Highway and crossing Hurricane Gulch "feels" like real Alaska. Man, talking about this has me pining to get back there. Fun fact: when I was there (2013) on the day we visited Denali National Park, the high for the day was 82 at MDT. The high that day in Fairbanks? 84. I wasn't prepared for that. (it was only in the low 60s down on the coast in Seward.)
  15. My wife and I were talking about this a month or so ago, just before everything started to green up. We walk on a local river trail 5-6 days a week, every week, 12 months a year. We enjoy watching nature change around us through each season. One thing we love about winter is being able to see things that you can't during the growing season because the foliage blocks it. (you can see farther in the woods when trees are barren) Also, wind sounds so much different now than it does in November. Steve, I've come to enjoy more than just winter (though I HATE hot weather) as each season brings with it unique experiences outside. We find nothing dull about the landscape in winter, we think it's just as beautiful as it is in full bloom. And walking on the trail on a crisp winter day honestly is invigorating for both of us.
  16. I'm sure I mentioned this before, but my parents used to live in Alaska. Were married there, in fact. My dad served in the Army at Fort Richardson, where temps would often fall to -40 in the winter. Perhaps that is where my love of cold weather comes from. It is a beautiful state, especially as soon as you get outside of Anchorage proper. My favorite areas are up near Denali and also further south towards Seward. In fact, Seward might be my favorite town I've ever visited. Standing along the water, breathing in the salt air while being surrounded by snow-capped mountains is REALLY cool..
  17. We have 8 more weeks until the amount of daylight starts to decrease...
  18. Last week, (the day we had snow showers/flurries) my house had gotten down to 58 - my wife gave me "the look" and like a good, dutiful husband...I turned the heat back on. I knew it was the right thing to do - but you're right, once the heat goes off, it's hard for me to turn it back on. I suspect that won't happen again until November. Maybe.
  19. I reached 86.2 but have since backed down to 84.7...we'll see what happens.
  20. 86 at 2:30 - impressive. Would have had a legit run at 90 with more sun early in the day.
  21. Yep, first day it's truly had that "summer vibe" outside.
