Crazy stuff! Both of the guys that I've been following really seem to take all of this in stride. It's just another day living in the mountains...

Yes sir. Not to bore you with meaningless info, but when watching these videos it's helpful to know this about the area: Mammoth Mountain is 11,053' in elevation. The ski area extends from the summit down to Canyon Lodge, which sits at 8,300'. (Main Lodge is at 8,900') The actual town of Mammoth Lakes sits at about 7,800'. Snow levels during the most recent storm rose to about 8,000' for a time on Friday, the town itself had a few hours of rain/snow mix. The town "only" received about 36" from the last storm, it was 5-1 ratio stuff as there was over 6.5" of liquid in that snow. That type of snow they refer to as "Sierra Cement" if you hear that in the videos you watch. There is also what is referred to as "The Village" which is a large area of rental condos and rooms that sits at 8,100' and is what you can view on mammothmountain.com cams - and that is where we'll be staying for 3 nights in May. All of those elevations are actually important as during a lot of Atmospheric River events, the snow level often rises to about 8,000'...so during a lot of storms, it's snowing like crazy on the Mountain and down to the Village while the "town" of Mammoth Lakes might be in a messy mix. Mammoth Lakes is expecting 20 -30" today and tonight. The mountain is expecting 42 - 54". On the mountain itself there will be close to 750" of snowfall for the season by tomorrow. More storms are expected next week and they are to be colder storms, with snow levels falling well below the town, so Mammoth Lakes will be getting a lot more snow in the coming weeks. So far, the flooding has been below the 6500' level. Once Mammoth Lakes gets into a bona fide thaw and/or has a significant rainfall, it could get ugly in town BUT unfortunately, it will be far worse down lower as of course...all of that melting snow in Mammoth Lakes and ultimately out on the mountain itself is going to go downhill from there.

There is NOTHING beloved to me regarding snow maps - though looking at latest guidance, I'm likely going to be wrong. I'll stay with my call and see what happens.

I just saw this - I don't know...I think NE PA is still in play for a 1' plus in spots. Wouldn't be surprised if some places report 14-18" like Mt. Pocono.

I have a dogwood budding out front that is a good 6-8 weeks ahead of schedule. I've seen other vegetation come up early over the years but I've never had trees budding in mid March. Crazy.

No doubt we'll keep getting it on the backend...

Lancaster- the snow anus of the US. DC sees flakes today while not a damn thing here. Unreal.

Bright sun here now - temp shot up from 38 to 43 over the past 45 minutes.

I'm watching like a hawk. Problem is - vast majority of time, the snow shield with these storms is modeled too far west. When you're already west of the western envelope it's hard to get very excited. Just once it'd be nice to get a positive surprise and see reality end up coming west.

Day #3 of my self-proclaimed "epic pattern - looking at what happened the past couple of days to our NE, and more importantly what's coming over the next 48 hours JUST to our NE...I feel kind of proud for my call made 4 weeks ago. Unfortunately...and the only way for me to make an analogy is to tie weather with sports. I think I just finished the MLB regular season slashing .352/44/137. Problem is, heading into the World Series it looks like I'm getting overmatched with a dose of nasty sliders and I'm going to end the year 0 for the World Series. And ultimately that is what I'll be remembered for. Hopefully the pitcher makes a mistake and I tee off on one later in the series.

Looks like the current snow depth in town is 21'. There is 79" of QPF in the pack right now. This storm is producing 5-1 ratio...they call this "Sierra Cement"

I was just about to post that it is puking snow in town right now. Watching the town Webcams and it's a surreal scene. As you said...a whole lot more snow to come. Another storm is expected by next weekend as well. Mammoth reported 33" of new snow at 8am this morning.

High here today was 41. Well below normal.

I challenged you to find something positive to share. Obviously that was too much to ask. If you can't find it in yourself to be positive, at least provide accurate information.

Actually they would be wrong if that's what they said for those dates. Average high today is 48.

Actually no your average high temperature on March 17 is 51.3 so upper 40s is below normal.
