  1. Eric Webb @webberweather · 8m There's been a misconception floating around in the Carolinas for a long time that for Miller A winter storms, a parent sfc in the midwest is less favorable than one in Ontario/Quebec. When you actually look at these cases, this isn't true. Mar 1927 is yet another classic example
  2. Eric Webb: Nice discussion from NWS RAH earlier today. Agree for most part except regarding the apparent unfavorable sfc high position in the upper midwest. What's being forecast is a typical sfc location for a Miller type A (coastal low) winter storm in NC. https://t.co/kEBUdWtegv #ncwx https://t.co/cusy8hfRSS
  3. Whoever Forecasted 60 degrees in Winston today should learn a valuable lesson in NC CAD. This afternoon, it’s 37 degrees in Winston-Salem.
  4. Van Denton @VanFOX8Weather · 7m A day to watch. Thursday, Jan 28th. Since Monday on TV, I have been showing the Snow/Sleet odds and the chance has increased steadily for that day. From 20% on Monday, to 26% on Tues to 33% on Wed and today it is now showing 45%. Still no guarantee and also 7 days away.
  5. Judah Cohen: I believe that I have a reputation as one who hypes the #cold & #snow so here is a tweet for those who like their winters mild, not wild. Last night's GFS says "PV, shmevee!" i.e., despite the #PolarVortex's antics no meaningful cold for North America into the foreseeable future. https://t.co/sZ9U1PRc0m
  6. Leesburg’s snow climate is a world of difference from DC/Arlington’s.
  7. But this is the same issue we are facing the DC area too
  8. Down to 37 degrees in Winston-Salem. It’s so eerily dark
  9. 41 dreary misty degrees in Winston-Salem. Intense daytime darkness today
  10. Good them. But what about non-mountainous NC and VA?
  11. We’re having a seasonal, moderate winter. Sure, for most, snowfall has been lackluster or missing. But, On the bright side, there has been very little to no torch, with none in sight. We are in a pattern where 50 seems mild/warm, which is better than recent winters.
  12. Ian Livingston @islivingston · 53m This winter is teetering on disaster esp if we get thru the super duper amazing pattern with little to show for it around here. Hold out hope for an inauguration blizzard.
  13. Sunset and heavy rates have whitened ground in East Winston
  14. It’s disappointing, but the bust factor is mitigated by the fact that only modest to light snow amounts were predicted. If a foot of snow would have been predicted, this would be an epic fail.
  15. Hmmm, I thought the morning phase was supposed to deliver more to Triad
  16. Mostly Sleet at Stratford/Ardmore Winston-Salem
