  1. Keep in mind, Durham and Chapel Hill/Hillsborough often do quite well with snowfall while Raleigh is blanked. It's happened a lot in these setups.
  2. 5:30pm Thu Nov. 29 Latest odds to see Snow Flakes and/or Sleet Pellets over the next 15 days. Based entirely on GFS and EURO model Ensembles. The chance Late Dec..5 & early Dec. 6th started showing up in... https://t.co/WwPgcLEuYn
  3. Eric Webb‏ @webberweather 1h1 hour ago Verbatim, this is the kind of pattern you want to see for an overrunning/Miller B event in the Carolinas, w/ a -EPO, California s/w, & a deep SE Canada vortex. Oth, details matter a lot in determining whether a legitimate threat for wintry wx actually materializes late next week
  4. 34 and cloudy in the Triad WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM THIS EVENING TO 8 AM EST SATURDAY... * WHAT...Freezing rain expected. Total ice accumulations of a light glaze expected. * WHERE...Forsyth County. * WHEN...From 10 PM this evening to 8 AM EST Saturday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Slippery road conditions may develop on any elevated surfaces. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Slow down and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for North Carolina can be found online at DriveNC.gov.
  5. Cloudy and mighty cold in Winston-Salem. Feels like snow
  6. Eric Webb‏ @webberweather 5h5 hours ago This is about as classic of a synoptic setup as you'll ever see for in-situ CAD in the Carolinas. Some of the same areas affected by last week's ice storm and the blue ridge escarpment should closely monitor for light-moderate amounts of freezing rain Fri night & early Sat. #ncwx
  7. The Triad and other parts of the Piedmont I just had a post Thanksgiving snowstorm last year
  8. Allan Huffman‏ @RaleighWx 21h21 hours ago Looking like the mild/warm December forecasts (including mine from 10/31) are likely in big trouble. Western North American ridge, -NAO, cold start (at least) for December looking likely.
  9. Last winter delivered the goods post Christmas! February sucked, but the rest was rockin, deep into spring!
  10. Eric Webb‏ @webberweather 1h1 hour ago Whatever legitimate warm-up was supposed to occur after this week especially near the end of November into early December is progressively going down right the drain & may be limited to a day or two/ the half-width of a s/w ridge in the north-central US & southern Canada
  11. Warmup Cancel Eric Webb: As others alluded to, in just 4 runs, the EPS completely flip-flopped over the NE Pacific. Any hopes for a quick warm-up/moderation in the E US quickly went down the drain w/ these earlier runs. Once again we find ourselves settling back into an all too familiar +TNH/-EPO pattern https://t.co/EszgHsHOxu
  12. Yes, the rain this weekend in NoVA was unreal, waves of torrential downpours day and night. Parts of Alexandria alread inundated by the Potomac.
  13. Is DC/NoVA not a good place to evacute to?
  14. The air temperature barely touches 90 if at all, but I have rarely felt it feel so oppressive in the Triad
  15. For all the hype over this week’s return of summer, for the Triad, the 90s last only two to four days. And low 90s at most. It’s hard to say precisely how many 90s because the peak highs will be 89-92, this week. Nothing major, then back into mid 80s by weekend.
