  1. Speaking of the crazy weather coming to Denver and environs, I am in northern Wyoming right now and would actually love to stay to see the snow on the mountains here on Monday/Tuesday, but my dad insists we get out of here ahead of it, so.... Anyone want to do some forecasting for the best way to drive back to DC from northern Wyoming? Can leave anytime starting early on Labor Day/tomorrow. My preference is to take I-90, but looking at the GFS and the NAM I'm not sure how far across South Dakota we can get before the precip starts drifting in. Could instead start off southeastward to I-80 and make it across Nebraska in dry weather, but the stuff around Iowa on Tuesday is vexxing me. Should I dip further south into Missouri? Or will the Iowa stuff be more spotty in the morning on Tuesday (would probably be into Illinois by noon, maybe?) Actually now wishing we could get out of here today because the smoke from the Montana fires has started pouring in, and even inside I'm already coughing. It's a paradise out here, I tell you!
  2. Alas, the Earth Cams are no match for both a derecho and a storm-watching public.
  3. My yard is soooooooo happy after last night. DC proper doesn't seem to get training like that during the summer much anymore.
  4. ETA: Sorry, missed that it was posted up-thread.
  5. Someone posted on Twitter about 10 minutes ago that they were seeing flurries in Adams Morgan.
  6. Sun peeking out on Capitol Hill. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  7. I'm looking at my Nest feed to see how much my plants at home are enjoying this. Had my front yard entirely redone (all new plants) in *early August*. It's rained like this maybe once between then and now.
  8. The sidewalks are wet! Including underneath the trees! Amazing! Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  9. After a bureaucratic delay, my completely revamped garden was installed during that worst heatwave in August. And I think it's rained here appreciably once since then. I keep getting notifications from DC Water about how much my usage has skyrocketed. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  10. I just want to go on record as saying that Dorian is a great name for a storm. Very retro. Donna, Carol, Hazel, Agnes, Dorian.... Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  11. Looks like a more "normal" line of storms than what we've seen over the past week. Moving nice and fast.
  12. I saw a lightning bolt headed ground-ward right after before that huge boom, which I heard at Franklin Square. The lightning bolt was to the WSW, like, toward the White House, so different from that cell. Still having thunder and lightning at Franklin Square, and dark clouds, but sunshine and no rain.
  13. I might get spit on for a minute or two here on the Hill. Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk
  14. Poured rain for about a minute at Nats Park at the end of the 3rd, apparently, but here, about eight blocks away, nothing. Bright sun now, though, so hopefully some more to come.
  15. Sun already back out after the DC storm, which was fading by the time it got to me on the Hill.
  16. Ditto on Capitol Hill. Sun is almost out, but it is just POURING.
  17. I had hail the size of whatever is one step up from pea sized on Capitol Hill. Jawbreaker size, I guess.
  18. Yes, sorry, I had meant that the big change in temps I was seeing is Thursday to Friday. I'll go back into my corner and cross my fingers until then. Thanks.
  19. If tomorrow is a big show, will that lessen the chances of another big show on Thursday? (worried about an outdoor event Thursday evening) Never a good sign when one day's forecasted high is 93 and the next day is 82.
