  1. I am just not convinced that mother hen govt is simply going to let people "make it their own problem" if they don't take the vaccine. Does that sound like something Cuomo, Newsom, or Whitmer would say? LOL well, maybe Cuomo.
  2. I am someone who has always been fine with a national ID card. Probably just because my job means the Feds already know everything about me, and I already carry a Federal ID anyway. I would be fine with that ID having info about my vaccination status, if I so choose. But I know that isn't the answer for the vast majority of people and would lead to terrible govt overreach. I think what you and will said about it being based on a timeline and availability widely is the only way to handle this.
  3. I think anyone who wants the vaccine should be able to take it, but once you take it the restrictions need to be lifted. That's the tradeoff. The virus is very, very low risk to most people. Asking them to take a vaccine requires something in exchange, IMO. That's having their old freedoms back. I also don't think shaming people for being scared of this rushed vaccine and calling them idiots is fair either. There are reasons to be wary about how this has been developed and will be rolled out. The damn liberal governor of NY and VP-elect are saying the same thing. It's not just a fringe weirdo viewpoint. I personally would take the vaccine if offered to me. If only to calm a few of the older folks in my sphere who are very scared of the virus. I don't expect it will be offered to me for a long while, however.
  4. I am fortunate that I can hide out from the virus in style. That's why I am not being a massive hypocrite demanding people who have to work with customers every day shut themselves down and destroy their livelihoods to make me feel even better.
  5. Government one-size-fits-all broad brush mandates tend to work like that. Everyone ends up unhappy with the generic committee solution.
  6. My outdoor furniture keeps doing weird shit. That swing was on the deck area in front of it, but somehow pretzeled itself out over night. Time to bring that all into the barn, obviously.
  7. Those special dogs had x-ray vision though.
  8. People have been eating shit for a lot of years, so we have good data on that. Eating shit is also still optional. We will see about this vaccine.
  9. I'm sure inserting bits of genetic material into our cells to program them to fight the virus won't lead to anything but sunshine and happiness for all. You'd have to be some kind of idiot to not be lined up first to get that shot after a lengthy and robust six month warp speed development effort by a company desperate to be the first to patent a working vaccine no matter the cost.
  10. Yes, and now they will want us to get used to "masking up" and staying six feet apart when attending a group function. This kind of thing will slowly keep creeping in until it is just accepted by everyone. It isn't like it hasn't happened before...
  11. I have never encountered anyone like this, but I keep hearing stories about people who never wear a mask or socially-distance and can just say they are "exempt." Apparently there are lists of factors that make one "exempt" from having to follow the public health rules, ranging from physical disabilities, to racial profiling concerns, to "emotional distress" sort of things.
  12. Did you think they'd still be spying on you and making you take off your shoes at the airport 19 years after 9/11?
  13. Yes, the pandora's box has been opened. The government almost never removes tools of control from its toolbox, it simply adds to them. I don't see how 1,000 flu deaths a day in December, January, March is somehow going to be "allowed" now... the govt will intervene to "slow the spread" again.
  14. Let us know as soon as you receive the vaccine.
  15. We can’t gloss over the fact that no mRNA vaccine has ever been approved for use in humans. This is uncharted territory. All in six months under something titled “warp speed.” Is anyone surprised people are wary? That doesn’t make them idiots.
  16. It’s shocking how many here can’t envision the “state of emergency” just being extended forever due to the next bad flu or “resurgent COVID.” Or maybe they are OK with that reality.
  17. It’s been like 6 months dude. It’s a brand new technique never used before in a vaccine in humans as well. How can you say this is not rushed? Come on.
  18. Like I said last night, the tech-class office workers who have been on 100% telework for months just aren’t concerned about that. It never factors into the equation.
  19. Sounds like something out of China or Canada. Perhaps Australia too.
  20. More despotic than telling everyone to get the experimental vaccine and then keeping them locked down anyway? Where do you put the cutoff for when you lift restrictions? I just don’t trust the govt with an open ended deadline.
  21. I have logged more hours on the road this summer and fall than probably anyone else on this forum, so yeah. There is a large groundswell of people who don’t want the vaccine because they think it is dangerous and won’t change the govt’s desire for control, and it isn’t just crazy white militia prepper types either.
  22. Ok, but distrust of a rushed, govt-enforced vaccine doesn’t make anyone an idiot. You can feel free to line up to be the first to get jabbed and then don your mask and hunker down at home for another six months anyway. That’s a perfectly legit choice to make. But others will be more wary.
  23. Yep. I’m sure the answer is in there somewhere. Good ol’ trusty polls.
