  1. Summer has been continuing well into September and even October recently.
  2. I would only really consider a cool down to be high temperatures below 85 and dew points below 60 at this point.
  3. June 2008 had a pretty impressive heat wave early on.
  4. This will probably be one of the coolest April 15-May 15 periods as well.
  5. I actually saw snow even down here in Warren County on May 15, 2016.
  6. Philly had a high of only 49 on June 2, 1907 as well.
  7. Probably the equivalent of a high in the single digits in January.
  8. A high temperature not getting out of the 40s in early to mid May without any rain is unreal.
  9. I can't believe I have a forecasted high of 44 this Saturday with no rain.
  10. When was the last time we had a spring with below to well below normal temperatures but also below average precipitation? That's probably a very rare combination, particularly in April and May.
  11. I remember that stretch in May 2005. It felt like we went weeks without seeing the sun.
  12. That is strange. I wish we had more records of the winters during the LIA from before 1869.
  13. What's interesting is that I've read from a couple of sources that 1867-68 was also incredibly snowy, but I didn't know that 1866-67 was as well. That two year period could have been snowier than any other in the official records if so.
  14. March 1885 had an incredible cold spell starting today and lasting until the 23rd, with an average maximum temperature of 24.3, and an average minimum temperature of 11.9 in NYC. Was just looking at old records and I can't imagine that degree of cold so late in the year.
  15. It's been especially poor to your west here in Warren County, considering the one decent event in early December was slightly too far east for this area. Allentown has a whopping 5.3", which currently stands as the worst winter of all time there.
  16. I have about 10" for the year lol. This easily has the potential to be the worst winter of my lifetime here, and the worst since 88-89.
  17. I remember reading about that storm in February 1958. It was a very cold storm with significant snow to Eastern Long Island, yet the highest accumulations were actually in the Poconos, where many areas had 30-40" in a strip of very heavy snowfall. Interesting that the best dynamics were so far inland. Those same areas were hit just a month later during the KU on March 20 that year as well. The winter was beyond historic for the Poconos, just absurd.
  18. I was 7 years old during the winter of 2000-01, and have a vague recollection of blizzard conditions during a certain storm. It was either 12/30/00, or 2/5/01. The former had a very sharp cutoff just to my west.
  19. Interestingly enough, most winters of the 1880s were actually over 30" in NYC. There were probably several smaller snowfalls throughout the decade.
  20. One of the great 20th century winters that I wish I was alive for. NJ's record peak snow depth of 52" was actually set at the Canistear Reservoir coop after the February storm. They also picked up 56" in just three weeks during that brutal stretch from mid January to early February, and nearly 105" for the season overall according to xmacis2. Pretty remarkable even by 2010s standards.
