Just had a snow and sleet shower here.
-
Ended up with slightly over 8" down here. Incredibly heavy rates from about 6:00-8:30 last night. Easily the best event here since the early February 2021 monster.
-
Almost 8" here in Northern Warren County. Now over to sleet.

Thank you.

Can someone post a link to the radar that shows the mix line?
-
I'm thinking about 6" for me in Northern Warren.

This is unprecedented. 89-93 averaged around 20"
NYC had six straight winters under 20" in a row from 1949-1955.
-
What's interesting about 97-98 was that February was the warmest month and December was the coldest month (even though the entire winter was essentially a torch). Not what you would expect in a Nino.

Do we have a term for the cold equivalent of torch?

Thinking about it, how many accumulation snowfall events did cpk have in 10/11?
The big 3. The February storm that turned to rain before the pattern flip. The forgotten March overrunning event that dropped 4.5. 5 total?
There were also two additional minor events that January: one on the 7th and one on the 21st.

I think I was under a winter storm warning for an underperforming storm that year. Other than that, I think the last time I was under a winter storm warning was for the 2016 blizzard.
Maybe someone with a better memory can correct me if I wrong about that. But yeah, slim pickin’s in recent years.
March 2018 had a big event later in the month that I think you would have been under a warning for.

I don't think ABE has had a 6" storm since early February 2021.
-
A low in the mid 30s at night this time of year is pretty unusual but not quite off the charts. May 18-21 in 2002 had 4 straight days of high temperatures in the 50s and lows near freezing at ABE. That’s pretty insane.

Going to be a crazy gradient by you with this event. Do you know what your elevation is?
About 600 feet or so

They still have me under a winter storm warning for 6-12 inches. Yet the daily forecast from TWC shows one inch through tomorrow afternoon. LOL.
Same for me in northern Warren County but the warning is for 6-8 inches.

Without the number crunching believe this is my new worst 5 year winter period. Beats 89-93.
97-02 was pretty bad as well. I would think 20-21 would elevate the current period somewhat, no?

It’s difficult to get shut out completely even during a horrible winter. That being said if NYC gets to mid February without anything measurable I would say they definitely have a shot at the futility record.
-
We lucked out somewhat here in Warren County with the December 11 and 15 events (about 2” and 3.5-4.0” respectively), but my last 6”+ event was almost two years ago in February 2021.

I was a bit taken aback when I saw lightning this evening driving home from work in NW NJ.
-
February 2017 and February 2018 had some sunny, 60+ degree days with low humidity. I think the latter even had a day that was 75+.

It's bad. Montreal reached 10° this morning for the first time this winter. The previous latest first 10° temperature occurred on December 29, 2015. Before that, the record was December 28, 2001.
They didn’t reach 10 on Christmas Eve?
-
Everyone keeps bringing up December 1989, but I was under the impression that that month had a robust +PNA and -EPO with a less favorable Atlantic. I’m not sure how it’s all that comparable with the December we just went through.
