  1. Soaker out there this morning. The dry ground has been great for fall clean ups but the rain is needed. Will be nice to see the snow flying this weekend. The ground is warm so it will be tough to see accumulations. Temps in the western basin are normally much cooler than the central basin this time of the year. Temps are fairly uniform in the low to mid 50's. It will be interesting to revisit in a week.
  2. Doesn't look like an exciting LES event but it will be nice to see some flakes flying again. CMC is the most bullish at at this point. Hopefully we can get the wind direction a little more NW'erly. I've seen 2010-2011 thrown around as analog for the coming winter. That was an exceptional winter for the eastside... I'd gladly take 140" +
  3. Awesome discussion. This warm weather has been great... but looking forward to the pattern change. Temps in the Western basin have risen 3-4 degrees since the last cold period.
  4. CLE finished October -1.2, with 3.34" of precip. It has been awhile since we've had mostly bare trees on Halloween. Temps on the lake are unusually uniform across the western and central basins with low 50's out west, and mid 50's in the central basin. Temps in the west have actually increased a bit with the recent warmth. Good to have a "warm" lake until the pattern flips.
  5. Flew back into CLE last night around 10pm... interesting flying through the intense lake effect band. Woke up to a nice coating of snow. Must have warmed up early morning it was mostly a mix of rain/snow.
  6. Trees are getting close to peak... colors seem more vibrant compared to the past couple of years.
  7. Spotty frost on rooftops and grass this morning. First of the season.
  8. Picked up 3.60" inches of lake effect rain this week. Quite the soaking.
  9. Hopefully we can duplicate this set-up when its cold enough for snow. Nice spread the wealth lake effect event. Your location should be the jackpot for rainfall.
  10. Yeah, I have a few maples dropping already. Definitely a fall feel with the dark skies and lake effect rain coming down now. Last nights storms didn't pan out unfortunately.
  11. Seems a little early but lots of color showing in the trees already. Looking forward to the squall line later today... then on to Fall tomorrow.
  12. Read an article that the Greenland ice sheet gained 7 Gigatons of mass in just one day — the largest daily gain ever recorded during the summer.
  13. First line of storms blew up just east of here on the Ohio/PA line. The area from Ashtabula on east has had the hot hand with storms this Summer. Hoping the line to the West can hold together for some action this evening. This has been one of the more boring Summers I can remember for t'storms locally.
  14. Picked up 2.40" of rain since yesterday. It has been dry locally so it was definitely much needed around here.
  15. Low of 49 IMBY this morning. This month has been a roller coaster with temps... seems like it has been windy every day as well. Ground is really starting to dry out with some brown showing in the grass. 2.25" of rain for the month here.
  16. Just returned to CLE from New Orleans. Crazy that the airmass here feels very similar to NOLA.
  17. Yeah, that's life next to the lake in the Spring. We've had a really nice stretch of weather the past week.
  18. Finally have leaves on the trees. Only one's lagging are Oak and Locust.
  19. Given how close you are to the lake its tough this time of the year. Looking forward to a warm-up though. Leaf out is still going slowly although we have made some progress over the last week.
  20. Winter wonderland on 4/19. CLE recently reported thundersnow.
  21. 1..5” of snow last night. Checked out from the weather for awhile so wasn’t excepting that.
  22. Didn't do a great job of measuring but estimating 6"... not counting the snow that came down this morning. Picked up another 1/2" or so with the squall that came through.
  23. Woke up to a solid coating of snow… just under an inch. We’ll see what today/tonight brings.
  24. Yep, I'm hoping for nothing more than a frontal passage with a few snow showers at this point. Spring doesn't come easily around here unfortunately.
  25. Definitely read to close the books on this winter. Pretty good winter overall considering how bad December was. Jan and Feb were cold and snowy... and we had snow cover for an extended period of time despite the brief thaws. DTA is probably keeping track but I'd guess we are at or slightly above average with snowfall at this point. Unless April 2007 comes along I'm ready to move on to Spring. That was the heaviest heart attack snow I've ever experienced.
