    What's an Edna Fitzgerald?

LMAO...he meant to say the Edmond Fitzgerald..which was sunk in a November monster storm on Lake Superior in the 70’s.

Also a song sung by Gordon Lightfoot.

Minor point of contention, they didn't drop a high wind warning. It was a watch (50% or greater confidence) to begin with, so there is a good percentage of time that it will not be upgraded to a warning, but rather an advisory or maybe even nothing sometimes.

Oh I understand, I meant to say dropped high wind watch...and I put warning..sorry, my mistake.

Just shocking, they dropped the high wind warning for the valley.

They dropped the high wind warning for here  too.  Wind advisory for all in CT...I have a feeling the call for a half million without power in New England tomorrow is in trouble??

Based on 50-60 mph + regionwide with trees several weeks behind leaf wise, it’s possible we see over 500,000 outages in New England tomorrow.

I don't know Kev....I think that might be a bit of a Stretch there lol.  NWS put us into the Wind Advisory category, and not the High Wind Warning, so we'll see if that pans out as they have outlined????

No doubt the trees are behind....but what's left will get blown off easily imo, and won't catch the wind like Healthy Green leaves would.  I'll sell on Half a Million without power in New England at this point.  Winds are always a crap shoot...more times than not, it doesn't deliver as forecast...just have to see.  Maybe this time it does???

  5. Does mid November cold ever really last???

I know when I see things like this being forecasted this time of year ...I know that it won’t really be the real start of winter.

MJO signals going into warmer phases later on in long term....

Lol.....AST means every kid is standing in the dark in the AM waiting for the bus.  Not gonna happen.  They tried DST in the winter during the mid 70s and for this reason it was a disaster.

Exactly this...I was in very early elementary school in the mid 70’s...and it was 8:00 am and black as night!!

Being an educator I don’t see that happening here in our lifetimes imo.   Way too dangerous for the kids...especially in this day and age of delicate Snowflakes, that are suit happy to begin with!

That's the problem. The zone is too big. The sunset today around Boston is 5:38pm in western Ohio it's 6:34 pm.

Ya but obviously they get killed in the morning....sunrise here is 7:22, add almost an hour on to that for western Ohio and you're at 8:18 am...that sucks too.

I personally like EST, and SADD does not affect me one bit.

2nd week of july, after the early Jul heatwave, for the w sne folks. Hasn’t stopped since. Pushing 40”.

I'd say before that....Late Spring was wet, and it hasn't abated much since...we just got very hot along with the Wetness from the start of July.

  9. Glad you started the thread Jerry....Second half of October has been cold for sure(relative to time of the year), be nice to mild up some for the first few days of November...maybe a lil indian summer to enjoy.

  10. Lurker most people here (aside from those that have met at get-togethers), have never met except for on this site.....there's not a whole lot to talk about at the moment so ball busting is at a high level..it will get more serious when the weather dictates so.

And chill with the unfunny/weird comments when guys make an analogy....it's all in fun, and if you don't like that type of humor...then take a break (you said yesterday that you were going to take a while off to get your sh*t together) like you said you were going to.  When you say you're going to take a break, and then you don't....you gotta expect a little razzing from the guys, it's how it works.   Shrug it off and laugh along and you'll have some fun.

He lives on pavements near the ocean, he should always expect warmth and rain.

Lol for sure....except when he gets 22 inches in Feb 10 and we got RAIN....or when he got 30 inches in Jan 16, and I got 9 inches, and just to my north got 4 and up by the Mass line got a dusting to an inch with that one in 2016.

So their are times when he outperforms us...but it's rare.

According to what I can parse this morning, we have BN temps till Halloween, then Halloween is looking like it could be +5 or so (mid 60's in my location), a day or two of lingering AN, then another step down to mid 50s or just about average.

Have to remember Lurker....your area is quite a bit warmer many times than most of the posters here in SNE.  You may be +5 and most of SNE could be right about where they should be for the date.  Just saying...

Snow showers moving through again at 32F in the valley at noon.

This has been some ridiculous cold in October with all this daytime flakeage.

This is like the 5th day with flakes falling at home this month.

Nice for you guys...hopefully we get ours in due time as well....???

It does look like an 80s pattern of warmth ahead of a midwest cutter, rain, front, cool....then back to warmth.

Personally that's fine for now...too early for anything meaningful anyways, so might as well be a little milder imo.   I'll take upper 50's and low 60's for another 3-4 weeks...no issues with that at all.
