  1. He doesn’t get it. He’s too young to understand. Ya had to live the bad 80’s winters to completely understand. 1-3” was commonplace back then. 2-4” and we were feeling giddy. 3-5” was a substantial storm. And 4-6” was major…And if you accumulated greater than 6” it felt like you were in rarified territory. And tons of mixed bag storms too…always mixed precip events…which then froze solid afterwards. Remember almost always being able to walk on top of the snow due to freezing rain crusting it up…we did LOTS of good sledding/and tobogganing on the iced up snow in those years(had lots of good fun, and made the best of what we got), but it was lean and frustrating for quite awhile. It seemed like every storm that came along, would always get sabotaged somehow…amazing how often that happened back then, it was like clockwork. And you knew at some point as a storm approached, the rug would ultimately get pulled out..and it practically always did. F’n Infuriating!
  2. Well to be fair, Isaias was august of ‘20, and winter 20-21 was pretty darn good. Two big 12-18” events in CT(Dec of ‘20; and Feb 1st of ‘21) in one winter is pretty good imo. But since then it’s not that great(although eastern areas got the blizzard of late Jan ‘22 which was great for them), but other than that, the last two years have been dull.
  3. Spanks froze this morning at his sand pit…so count him in on that.
  4. The whole year has been boring…it’s been a snooze fest the last year.
  5. It’s on track. Enjoy the Indian summer, then we step down again.
  6. Retention was incredible in 2015, and 2011 though…best I’ve seen in my life…the amounts were incredible, and they stayed.
  7. I think we all would be happy with that.
  8. Yes sir lol…my parents said the same thing. Funny sh*t.
  9. That’s entirely different than a first frost though…
  10. They aren’t at all…but you’d swear they were by the way some base their ideas, and posts.
  11. But the problem is there are some that think exactly that(indicative).
  12. He’s expecting a bottom 3 I’m sure lol…..all kidding aside I think average is certainly attainable for most areas in SNE. And that will seem huge after last year.
  13. Frost can happen at 33-34 degrees. 42 here now ..we got a shot, but it’ll be the coldest night so far either way.
  14. Dam…we’ve had quite a many here just since 2013. I mean 2011 was absolutely epic. close to 36” lol Feb 13. 12”+ Jan 15. 12”+ in Dec 20. 12”+ in Feb 21. 12”+ in Jan 18. 12”+ March 18. 12”+ Feb 17. 12”+. March 17. Dam Don…your area must be a snow hole lol.
  15. Yup. He(Brett)doesn’t understand how it was..was brutal. He ain’t seen nothing yet. And I hope we don’t come close to those years.
  16. Well the November 89 was T. Giving…And it snowed well into the day time with that one.
  17. It was very impressive….especially for the date. Days leading up were very mild too. Was hard to believe it was coming. But it came indeed.
  18. Nahhh…no way. It was for many years on end then. I/we lived it. This ain’t even close yet. Let’s so hope it doesn’t get there either.
  19. Nov 89 was the thanksgiving day storm…snowed all morning…was riding my sled all over the neighborhood that T Giving morning. 82-83 and 83-84 were pretty good. I mean spring of ‘82 we had the April blizzard…was Incredible. Late 70’s rocked big time.
  20. Ya, as I said the last few days, the foliage has really rallied. Folks sold it off way too early. It’s quite nice in SNE now, with some very beautiful color to be seen.
  21. T Giving in 89 had a very nice snowstorm too. That led to a frigid December. Rest of the winter didn’t do to well, but it was cold at that time.
  22. Just to add a little perspective…I remember November of ‘02 being very mild for a stretch(I remember because I was riding my Harley a few days and it was gorgeous(like late spring gorgeous). So I looked back, and it was the 8th, 9th, 10th and 11th that were exceptionally warm, especially for 2nd week of November. The 10th was 69-70, and the 11th was 66 or so. The 8th and 9th were mid 60’s as well. A couple weeks later on the night before T Giving we had snow into T giving morning if I remember right. And then that winter ended up being a very good one for SNE(winter 02-03). Just some food for thought. And before anybody says I’m angry or whatever about the warm days….just know I’m gonna enjoy this nice warm up…I have no issues with it whatsoever.
