  1. The second link is old. The first one, if you actually read the blurb, says they are suspended to august 15th IN CASE beds are needed. There's no crisis at his point. it's "out of an abundance of caution" as they say.
  2. I dunno. Your guess is as good as mine. They may never admit that useless mitigation and wrecking the economy was bad.
  3. Of course not. The end game? The realization that this is endemic and we have to live with it. But for now the powers that be wont admit it because if they do, what we went through for the last 16 months was/is useless.
  4. Same here. I won’t wear one except if I’m made to at work.
  5. I would tend to agree, but like I said before, masking in my office and lab is an awful thing I did for a year. I dread going back to it. I guess I’m resigned to it. The other concern I have is how does this one stop? What needs to happen before they tell me I can take it off again at work again?
  6. I'll have to wear one at work if its mandated. Anywhere else, they can pound sand. I also saw where the recommendation will be that everyone in school needs to wear one regardless.
  7. Washington (CNN)The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is expected to update its guidelines on Tuesday to urge vaccinated people in certain areas of the country to resume wearing masks because of Covid-19. People in areas with high or substantial Covid-19 transmission should resume wearing masks, the CDC is expected to say, according to sources familiar with the announcement. The White House is hoping that the new guidance will give local officials "a lot of cover" to implement new mask mandates where appropriate. My biggest concern is that Cambridge will mandate masks and I'm back in it at work. And with the guidance, I don't see how we get out of them.
  8. They wont have too since the vax and positive rates in the blue states are higher and lower, respectively than red states.
  9. Baker wont mandate it, itll be a suggestion recommendation. Now, what the usual suspect towns do is probably pretty clear. My guess is the guidance will be wear a mask in venues where unvaxed and vaxed mix indoors in close quarters. In door sporting events, etc. Also states/areas where vax rates are low and % positives are over a certain percentage. So mostly regions down south where they wont wear them or mandate them anyway. Pretty silly at this point.
  10. LOL I'm just telling you what the feds can and can't do. The announcement is going to say that the CDC recommends Vaxed people wear masks indoors in certain situations. What those situations are, who knows. Probably up to interpretation and most will ignore it. But its not a mandate. It could be on federal property, but that's as far as they can go. Pesky 10th amendment and all.
  11. Feds cant mandate shyte on a state. They can recommend, but they cant mandate anything except on federal property.
  12. Yea it will. It’ll be more widespread than you think. We already require masking and weekly Covid tests where I work if you unvaxed. My sources tell me that powers that be are thinking of mandating it to come back to the office. That’s the second step. Third step would be termination. That’s extreme, but it coming to global corporations near you. You said you work on a military base? You’re next.
  13. My company is doing the same thing. Better than mask mandates from my perspective.
  14. That’s not far off. In sone cases we were required to wear face shields too. Hopefully that wont come back.
  15. Try wearing one all day in a lab with safety glasses with side shields, buttoned up lab coat. Jesus. Fogged up glasses, hot, almost suffocated. I just can’t do it. Guess I’ll have no choice if the city mandates it again.
  16. From your mouth to gods ear. I dont have as much faith in these towns as you. Most won’t, but some of these towns are just foaming at the mouth to put mask restrictions back on no matter what. You can bet the usual suspects will at sone point. Cambridge has only had 83 positives so for this month and already put a non binding advisory into place. How many want to bet against it that they’ll put a mandate on. That means every office worker in town will go back to wearing one vaxed or not. And right now there’s a huge push to get people back in the office, at least from the biotech/pharma industry. They’re all in Cambridge for the most part. How do you think that will go over trying to get folks back? Maybe I’m just worrying for nothing, but I worked for over a year wearing one everyday all day. Do that again?? No thanks.
  17. Basically. There were about 400 cases traced to p town over the last couple weeks. The board of selectman put on an advisory for indoor masking a few days ago. Tonight they voted to make it a mandate. And the governor won’t say boo. He won’t make a state mandate, but he’ll let cities and towns do it. The more leftist town and cities will do it. Bank on Boston, Cambridge, and Somerville to get on the mandate wagon by the end of this week. I’d be shocked if I’m not back in a mask at work within a week, two weeks tops.
  18. Where? P-town? You don’t know much about the tourist towns on the Cape. P-town has about 3000 residents, most are vaxed. Any given weekend there’s upwards of 60-70,000 plus people there from all over Massachusetts and everywhere else.
  19. Baker won’t mandate the state I don’t think. Cities and towns will do it. It’ll be like wet and dry counties/towns used to be. Everybody will shop in “no mask” towns. I just dread it at work again. And this time I don’t see what criteria they use to get rid of it.
  20. P-town board of selectmen just voted to put on a mask mandate. Fook. Cambridge won’t be too far behind I’m afraid. You can bank on Cambridge doing it. They already have an “advisory”. I’ll be back in a damn mask at work inside a week. Baker won’t have the sack to say no. He’ll roll over and let them do it.
  21. Makes for a good sound bite, but not practical in terms of getting them to change anything.
  22. You can be highly supportive of the vax and think lockdowns and masking don’t work. Contrary to what you read and see on TV, most of the MDs and PhD’s in my circle don’t think the lockdowns and masks did or do diddly squat. They do think the vax is safe and effective.
