The ol "pathogenic priming"?  That is one of the theories floating around among anti-vaxxers, and it's not as stupid as microchips and what not since ADE has actually been observed in prior vaccine(s).  No compelling evidence of it with the covid vaccines though.

This isn’t likely, at least on any scale. The reported breakthrough cases have been mostly mild. ADE usually manifests as really nasty effects.  This isn’t what’s been observed.

I remember reading that something like 79% of the fully vaccinated 74% had symptoms.  Where I read it, I don't remember lol

Who knows. P-town get togethers like that are probably not the best indicators of Covid spread in crowds you might find elsewhere. A lot of close extracurricular activities occur that don’t occur elsewhere and aren’t talked about in the media.

Deaths are clearly uncoupled from cases. Delta may be more contagious, but the morbidity and mortality are much lower. That’s what mutations do. Not unexpected.

Any idea as to the percentage of fully vaccinated people there are vs how many nonvaxxed?    That makes a difference.  If 90% are fully vaxxed (I have no idea ) vs 60% or something

Yea, there’s zero context here. But I do think there’s a durability factor.

    Oh boy

Israel now provides vaccination status among new coronavirus cases and those who are seriously ill.

    New cases (Sat):
    - Unvaccinated: 1,006
    - Partially vaccinated: 39
    - Fully vaccinated: 1,049

    Seriously ill:
    - Unvaccinated: 71
    - Partially vaccinated: 7
    - Fully vaccinated: 133

    Durability is an issue.

Israel is vaxed with Pfizer, predominantly. Maybe Pfizer’s booster recommendation isn’t just based on greed. If I had to guess, their internal data shows durability drop off after 6-8 months.
On the other hand, from what I’ve heard from The Moderna vax, from the literature and from my internal sources, looks to have better durability. The Moderna formulation uses 3 times the mRNA levels compared to Pfizer. That formulation probably gives a bigger initial immune response.

Just speculating but I wonder if that CPU/GPU law was a backdoor way to ban bitcoin mining

Ha, could be never thought of that. But those are the same PCs used to mine crypto. I just bought 3 new towers like what’s California et al just banned.

That’s old news. What’s not reported is how many vaxed people were tested because they were sick vs those tested from a contact trace call that felt fine. I still maintain that just because you test positive by PCR, doesn’t mean your actually infected or shedding virus. That test to this day has never been validated against viral load measured by viral replication assays. The CDC,s assertion that vaxed people have as high a load in their nose as unvaxed people came from analyzing p-town data that showed similar Ct values for viral RNA. But what they didn’t do is to see if the asymptomatic vaxed people were actually infected. That’s a tougher one to do. But bottom line is all this new guidance and worry is based on 1) this one cluster in p-town, and 2) a PCR methodology that’s never been properly validated.

That’s an issue for non gamers too. We use those gamer PCs with high capacity memory and graphics cards for artificial intelligence image analysis for cancer bio marker work. The commercial software we use requires that kind of power. The software we use is used in California too by several biotech and pharma companies including our San Diego office.

McConnell looked spooked about a week ago. I’m certain that we’re not told everything. I’m supposed to travel for work next Sunday to Friday though…if some are in the know within the govt, it’s not down to my level.

I still need a status report on the toenail and how it resolved after the removal.

Obviously deaths don't follow case trends quite like they used to, but if you look closely, deaths are starting to increase in the US.  It is more noticeable when looking at graphs that have the intervals set lower, since the death numbers are *relatively* small now compared to what they have been.

The real explosion in cases is a fairly recent thing, really the last 2-3 weeks.  There are still a lot of unvaccinated people out there with comorbidities in the younger-middle age groups who the virus is coming for.  My guess would be that average deaths per day climb into the high hundreds in a few more weeks, but we'll see.

Phin will probably tell me to stop panicking or obsessing lol, but I'm not.  Just posting my thoughts.

They didn’t really in the UK. You can always mast**bate over a blip on a 16 month curve, but it doesn’t mean much

Meh, more like he's being recalled because the law is 12% of the voters from the last election held (~1.5 million people). They got 17% to sign the recall. So it's a vocal minority at best.

More or less you can find 20% of the population that are always mad about something the governor is doing. California recall law is wild.

    Just ask Gray Davis. :D

There isn’t the political capital to do it. Newsome is facing a recall vote for his too-aggressive response to COVID. Might be wishful thinking on my part, but I just can’t see it at this stage

Yup. Except for a few really whack job places like Oregon, there’s no will to do it. Besides, nobody is dying (except for the baseline/background that’s been there for months.

It’s coming from the Federal level I think. I could be wrong but I feel it in my bones.

They can’t. You know that. If they could have, it would have been done back in January. They’ve trampled on the constitution about as much as they can. States still have say in what goes on.

  15. I did what I just said not to do. I looked at the numbers. In almost every state I looked at, the deaths have been pretty much flat for 7-8 weeks. Even in Europe where cases have been up (and starting to drop btw) deaths have been flat with no spikes.

I lol’ed at DC being masked up. They’re 7 day average is 61 positives, with 2 deaths in the last 10 days.

They are building up the narrative to major lockdowns. Get ready.

Depends on what state you’re in and if you have a reasonable gov. The forever maskers aren’t happy with Baker. As much as I don’t care much for him in general, we’d be screwed if Healy or Curatone was gov.
People need to stop worrying about it, stop watching cable news, stop with the worrying about positives, and move on with life. Problem is, the news, politicians and the hysterical won’t let the rest of us live life. This is now in the realm of hysteria.

Of course Meri Najimy slammed the DESE for not mandating universal masking at school.
I’m shocked, shocked I say the head of the union would take such a position.
    Lolololol

If teachers want to voluntarily wear a mask, by all means, wear one.

Just did the Norwotok (spelling) bike trail out in Hippie land (Hadley/Amherst).  We did it around a year ago.  Last year many people on the trail had masks.  Today almost none.  We are at the Quarters arcade bar.  Food was cheap and ok.  Seemed like normal.  Stopped at Maple Farm Food to load up for a charcuterie for this evening. Got some sweet desserts

Good to be out of the Covid loop for a bit.
Not happy about the school thing.

They basically left it up to the districts.

Lol. This guys a clown. A million a day?

We’ve never had more than 260,000 a day. Proves he’s not a serious person.
