Pretty futile here lately. 0.23" since I returned on Aug 16. About 2.3" the first through the 15th of the month. Last Fall was especially colorful with the early chill/decent rainfall. Unless we get wet/cool pretty quickly, expecting dull/muted leaf color this Fall.

At least you will have leaves on the trees.

Snowshoe web cam whiteout conditions with that heavy band streaming right in

That's Fing amazing. I can't see more than 150' and they must have at least 2' at the top of Skidder Slope.

Wow, checked and I managed 29.5 degrees for a low this morning.

As far as gusts. I know that we managed at least 20 mph more than what I was able to get on my weather station. The weather station measured a 53mph sustained wind before the power went out and 5 telephone poles were toppled about a half mile from me. That was one of the better wind events since the one back in 2018.

Where in Purcellville are you? I'm on Harpers Ferry Road about 5 miles north of Route 9 on the west side of the east hill. I did not lose power, but I was getting slammed with wind. I have a log home with a great room that has a 24' ceiling and a wall of windows that face due west with about 2000' of pasture in front of me. I had to go back to my bedroom in the back because the creaking was freaking me out. I'm at 725'.

meh, not including this winter 3 of the last 5 were right at climo IMBY

You are right, just seems like a lot less with no snow winters like this one and 2019. As a matter of fact, I had nothing close to climo last year in northwestern Loudoun county.

We just don’t see this kind of cold anymore… I don’t enjoy it as much without snow as I get older but at least the glass is half full this Christmas weekend….enjoy!

Look, I have been on this earth almost 60 years and on the old and new weather boards 15-20 years. I usually just listen. Spent 2/12 years as a Meteorology major at Lyndon State College in the late 1980's. This is a top 5 before New Year for me.

We're not that cold, I'm at 8F.  I will say this, we're now coldest so far for the year.
Last time we were below 10 was that bust of a storm where it started out snow and warmed up, turned to rain and was washed away by the next morning.

I hear you, but this is pretty damn impressive for the area it covers and the wind is impressive - look at Buffalo!
